Could the Sabre transport anyone? ![]() How many could the Spartan transport? ![]() Did the Whirlwind original carry 5 or 10 marines in AT/SM? ![]() The original Predator, did it have a transport capacity of 3 or 4 people? (And here is a mangled old pred) |

IIRC-> _none_ of the rhino variants had a transport capability; if you upgraded to a combat role, it was lost as part of the bargain. The spartan carried a full squad of termies; but the number "8" sticks in mind... All that is off-the-cuff, from memory; I'll pull out my old White Dwarfs & double check from textual canon this afternoon (it'll be interesting to see if my memory is holding up...) |

I know the whirlwind carried troops in 1st ed, I just can't remember how many (5 or 10?). The original incarnation of the predator had a very limited troop carrying capacity that didn't make it into Epic. Sabre I barely remember and despite making a spartan I have no idea now how many it carried around. Edit, yep, whirlwinds were 10. |

Oh I know eventually they become zero transport, however I'm wondering what they were before that ![]() Are those metal rhinos L4? If I ever do any I reckon mod the front plate a bit and stick a marine senor widget where the bolters are. However centerline or off center? Guess I'd copy a Stug ![]() |

Really? I thought that one is too high superstructure wise? It's more stug like in terms of silhouette surely? |

Nope, it's closer to an SU-100 than a StuG. |

Okay-  reviewed the Literature: WD103 Jul88 Rhino Kit introduced CP-12 (1st Predator conversion pic) WD104 Aug88 Land Raider Kit introduced WD105 Sept88 Land Raider stats CP-12 WD109 Jan89 Epic Rhino & LandRaider CP-10; 40K version reinforced CP-12 WD112 Apr89 Predator Kit introduced CP-5  : Terminators introduced WD116 Aug89 Epic Predator & Vindicator introduced _NO_CP WD117 Sept89 40K Whirlwind CP-12 (implied) WD118 Oct89 40K Vindicator _NO CP_ WD119 Nov89 40K Spartan CP-10/(5 Terminators) WD120 Dec89 40K Sabre _NO CP_ {Edit} WD123Mar90 Epic stats revision; appears to be 1st Whirlwind stat for epic (but i may have missed something, I admit) --->2 Stands: Rhino, Land Raider, Whirlwind (Spartan implied, but not mentioned) --->0 Stands: Predator, Vindicator (Sabre implied, but not mentioned) "CP" is 'capacity', the number of deployed troops carried; Terminators count as 2 slots in early vehicle descriptions 40K allows 12-CP for Rhino & Raider; Epic rounds -down- to 10-CP (or two stands) Predator & Vindicator explicitly have NO capacity in Epic; Predator has CP-5 in 40K: The Whirlwind has CP12 implied, as the rules state "uses standard rhino stats" (stilllooking for EpicCP {Edit->Confirmed WD 123) I have no idea where the 1st Ed Epic stats for the Sabre are from (if they exist), but I would tend to doubt 'em, without documenting the source Hope that Helps- (On Reflection: That was a pretty amazing Year; -every-major design element of the milieu was established in the space of just a few months...) { EDIT } ...and I have to say; Thanks for reminding me about the Sabre and Spartan; I always wanted to convert some of those, but never quite got around to it. Imperial Las-Guns, you say...? (wanders off to rummage bitz box) |
