Just read elsewhere: What about Deathstorm DropPods? That would be DropPods which replaces their transport capacity for weapons systems.

They're already factored into the abstracted existance of droppods and deathwind attacks.

No i actually meant dropping dropods without troops to disembark.

Even more interesting, then.  Sounds more like a Thunderhawk Lite, then.  Smaller, Skimmer instead of full flight, but still able to planetfall.

AV, 30cm, 4+ (maybe 5+RA if it can Planetfall), FF5, CC6
Lascannons (2x or Twin... whatever)
Skimmer, Planetfall, Transport 3

Seems about right to me. Transport capacity is a big question mark, even FW haven't made up their mind yet though.

For a number of reasons that I won't go into, I would suggest that you go with a single twin-Lascannon shot per vehicle, assuming the armament doesn't change in the interim.

50 points or so, replacing Rhinos?  75?

I'd go with 75pts each as a baseline.

That's covered by orbital bombardment then :p

Interesting thought. Sorta like:

Formation : Deathstorm Strike
Units : 1 Drop Pod
Cost : 75 Points

Then you have a Strike Cruiser fly over and spatter the tabletop with half a dozen pre-plotted Deathstorm Strikes...

...Unlikely to get a huge ammount of kills (Deathwinds generally don't), but will lay BM's over pretty much the entire enemy army.

Wouldn't even have to kill the scout company to do it.

Indeed.

Speaking of Scouts, as the 'Skimmer' Chapter, I assume the Raven Guard's Scouts have access to the Land Speeder Storm? I can't actually find an army list page if one's been posted.

I'd probably start there, but I think it would have to come down.  It's nowhere near as good as a Landraider.  Also, 3x Razorbacks are a bit more fragile individually but still take more to destroy and throw 3x the firepower downrange and in assaults.  Admittedly, Razorbacks are very cost effective for the Marines, but I'm not sure that Skimmer and Planetfall is enough to make them attractive at 75 points.

Nah we can get a pretty good lockdown on the stats now, and mod slightly later on if nessesary.

Random thought do you have Land Speeder tempests (if you have it shows how much durga puga has fried my brain)? Kinda like a land speeder heavy attack wing? Relatively easy to scratchbuild sorta.

Whats that, assault cannon and missile launcher/twin missile launcher?

Assault cannon + Typhoon Launcher, IIRC.

I think vytzka is correct.  When I looked at the stats the Tempest would have in Epic based on weapons, I came to the conclusion that the Tempest's firepower is pretty much identical to the Typhoon, just arranged slightly differently - worse launcher but better secondary weapon.  I'd call it a wash and just use the Typhoon stats for the Tempest.

Pretty much what I was thinking.

Different weapons and not open-topped (obviously).  I don't think that's enough to change armor saves or vehicle type for Epic, though you could probably make a case for it.

Main difference is they're Armor 11/11/10 (probably), same as DE Ravagers in fact. I doubt Ravagers have 3+ armor saves.

Land Speeder Tempest has Armour of 11/10/10 (same as Rhino, other Land Speeders have 10/10/10) and is a Fast Skimmer (as all Land Speeders). It has 1 Assault Cannon and 1 Twin-linked Missile Launcher with Frag and Krak-Missiles on AA-mount (only ML).
Special Rule: Deep Strike (same as generic Land Speeder and variants)

BTW all Land Speders aren't open-topped because the crew wears power armour.
