Every unit has a single cc or ff attack. Extra attacks are on top of that. So a crusarer has 3 ff attacks.

Did I understand it right that the Death Company cant take a Storm Raven as transport? Would be cool to drop the DC and a DC-Dread with a dedicated Storm Raven.

Yup this would be best approach. I don't like that restriction myself so the quickest way to deal with it is a few tests putting them in ravens and see how it works.

if you have an existing unit that's fairly comparable, such as a Storm Eagle, just proxy it. Don't discount using a printed item as a token for the tests either! Basically don't get caught up in the trap that you need models to test play.

Hi, I´m a long time Reader and have a question regarding Death Company: Why cant they take Drop Pods? You can have them without Jumppacks and with them, why not make them able to and give a Points increase for the Pods. Or is it a Lore thing?

They can, it is part of the "plus Transport" rule. Marine armies are allowed to swap rhinos for drop pods for free as long as the formation are allowed to use them.

Question does the sniper rule that the scouts can buy apply to everything in the unit. i.e transports and does it apply for ff and cc?

Also at what range does the Thirst rule take effect?

It's meant to be modeled after the codex list. So that would give a sniper ability to scout units. That wouldn't do anything for you in an assault. It would need to be on a close combat or firefight weapon. See the faq: https://tp.net-armageddon.org/rules/#sniper

Hello all,

(I'm new to the forum, so I hope replying to a thread with nearly a year since its last post isn't considered bad form.)

I have been wondering if there are any updates for the Blood Angels list. I've begun playing around with them a little bit, having played (and lost) a game against a Steel Legion army so far. I'm hoping to play another game soon with a drop pod focus.

Some questions:

1. Are Stormravens meant to have Self-Planetfall, as some have said here? Or should it just be normal Planetfall as listed in the PDF? Not sure if this is an update which hasn't been made.

2. Armyforge has an option for a Supreme Commander honor guard which isn't in the 3.1 PDF, even though Armyforge itself is meant to be based on the 3.1 variant. There is some discussion of Sanguinary Guard - have they been developed?

3. What do people think of adding more units to the roster?

I've played some games using the Space Wolves list, and comparing it with the Blood Angels one, it seems SW have generally a lot more options for a similar aggressive style with drops and air units. And as-is, the army has quite few unit options.

In particular, some cheaper dismounted assault marines (like a Blood Claws equivalent), and a ground-attack aircraft, might be nice additions. For the latter, the Fire Raptor might be a cool pick, seeing as some Heresy-era vehicles turn up in other lists (Fellblade for Imperial Fists, Storm Eagle for Raven Guard).

I'll try to play some more games and add more thoughts.

Nothing for a while not. COVID rather knocked the wind out of the tournament (and by extension, testing) scene and BA have been one of the ignored lists.

Nope just planetfall. There's alternate scenarios that do things like granting self-planetfall to marine flyers, for instance, but as marine air assault is already a super powerful ability peppering SP on things has been avoided. Basically a Stormraven is as orbital capable as a TBrick for example.

They were in the earlier versions but were removed in the 3.1 (maybe 3.0 as well, having an senior moment). I don't use nor am responsible for AF but if it has Sang Guard, it's not based on 3.x

That being said, dig into the older versions and play with them and make the case for them being brought back. If you are bored and dig into old posts and discussions you can see I was a big fan of them.

Try it out! That's how things get determined. Play with a few games with a Fireraptor and write the experience up. It's also helpful to play two games like that. One where you play the BA and then replay the game swapping sides. Important to see how you feel facing it, not just using it. The objective of the game is to win; The purpose is to have fun.

Alright, I ran the Blood Angels against a Minervans list today. I have a battle report written - is this the right place to put it?

I brought:

- Death Company, 2 DC Dread, Drop Pods (450)
- Tactical Detachment, Drop Pods (275)
- Tactical Detachment, Furioso Dreadnought, Drop Pods (325)
- Assault Detachment, +2 Assaults, 2x Furioso Dreadnought, Supreme Commander (450)
- Scout Detachment (150)
- Terminator Detachment, Chaplain (400)
- Strike Cruiser (200)
- Storm Talons (200)
- Landing Craft (350)
- Thunderhawk (200)

Some takeaways from a narrow victory over Minervans:

1. Assault Marines

These feel cursed whenever I use them, with a short effective range since they need to get into base contact to accomplish much. The Lander dropped them onto a Russ company (6 conqueror, 2 hellhound) which they annihilated, and they followed up into a mechanized infantry platoon the next turn (losing Supreme Commander, ouch) before getting blown to pieces by a LR demolisher company. One dreadnought limped away denying BTS.

For 350 points I sort of wonder if I should just take another terminator unit. I'd be interested about adding a vanguard veteran upgrade, two for 75/100 points.

2. Red Thirst

I like it a lot, switches up command and control in an interesting way being able to bank on Engage orders.

3. Tactical Detachments

Dreadful as always. More use for their deathwind and a bit of supporting fire. I definitely think a cheaper (225 for 6 bases plus transport?) dismounted Assault Marine unit would be interesting, for either drop pods or driving. A blood claw equivalent of sorts.

4. Aircraft

I do think a ground-attack aircraft would be a fun addition and may stat up the Fire Raptors to experiment with. This sits adjacent to the very long and drawn out Stormraven arguments, which seem to have produced a unit I don't want to bother with. If there's a dedicated shooty aircraft then the Stormraven can be cheapened and gunned-down into a useful niche as a transport.

It feels weaker than a Space Wolves list I've run, which drop pods a unit of terminators and Blood Claws, with two units of speeders to clear chaff, thunderbolts and marauders for utility work, and a Great Company with Blood Claws + Terminators in a Lander, and a Great Company with Grey Hunters + Blood Claws + AA and Supreme Commander to follow up.

The Blood Angels' drop pod units are more expensive but not better, the killy formations hit about as hard but are very brittle. The SW list can count on outnumbering CR bonuses and getting charges after the first one, but I really ran out of gas on the second turn.

Wolves also have Marauders, and getting to put 2 BMs on possibly multiple formations can easily break ones that have already been deathwinded once or twice (lone warhounds, artillery, sentinels).

Should I treat this as the de-facto development thread, since it's the modern 3.1 version? I found "Blood Angels List Development Thread" which ends in 2018 and links to a page that doesn't load. Not sure if there's been once since.
