Personally, like on the Epic: Dark Eldar list, I'm a proponent of the use of 'escorts' class starships. An obvious way to implement this in the SW list is to allow them as part of a single 'expandable' Space formation. (I.e.
0-1 SC [up to BB]
0-3 Escorts [Strike{extra bombardment}, Lance{pinpoint attacks}]
At least one such option must be present in the formation).

This'd prevent 'domination' of aerospace, but permit the wolves to be quite adept at 'being Astartes' despite being highly non-Codex.

Hell, even including some sort of Kraken class 'dropship' might be viable; e.g. an escort upgrade which permits a bit more drop-poddage?

I quite like that idea and will probably run with it. Allow Novas, Cobras and Gladius'. Still a bit concerned with transporting capacity, but specifically allowing Russian dolling may address this.

Indeed, it's not addressed that items like RSVs/Escorts have or have not drop pod cabability, but I see no overarching reason they wouldn't. A 'small' carrying capacity (i.e. one lander's worth) makes sense to me.

The specifics aren't terribly important right now, playtesting/thinking about things out to lead to a sensible answer in time.

I have tried using the other lists but they don't quite reflect the fluff IMHO. SW used to be very much space vikings raiding from their fleet. Some of the things in the lists like the Mjoliner (is that correct) as has been previously pointed out are overpowered and have no reflection in the fluff. Things like wulfen are supposed to be so rare that they probably shouldn't be included in the list. I wanted a spacewolf list with few special rules that has at its base the core marine list with some shooting stripped out for a more CC focus. I have taken ideas from all the SW lists brought some of them into this list and added a couple of my own.

I also wanted to reflect more of how the units function in 40k. eg blood claws have the same WS as guardsmen but twice as many attacks when charging so CC5+ extra attack +1 seems better to me than CC3+.
