Changing their range would require changing the range of every lascannon in every list... that's a no-go (Unless you add LR Helios' to the army!)

Well, it is a laser, so the theoretical range is very large! A longer range can be fluffed away with superior targeting systems, stabilized firing platform, more powerful laser, etc. Previous Epic rules listed the volcano cannon as a super laser cannon, so it isn't that big of a stretch.
Just trying to think outside the box here!

I continue to use tham at 375 with FF4+ and it is working for me, however I still cannot justify Terms with LR as an option or Devs with LR. Instead of using the Devs with LR I use RB. You get the same ammount of firepower, with more units at a cheaper cost.
1. Devs with LR Devs = 250 8 x AP5+/AT6+ LR = 200 4 x AP4+/AT4+ = 450
2. Devs with RB Devs =250 8 x AP5+/AT6+ 4 x RB =100 4 x AT4+
So I lose out on the 4 x AP4 shots and Reinforced Armour save, I can spend my extra 100 points elsewhere. As I usually take a charcter in these formation, I would drop it in favour of 2 x Hunters to get some air cover.
