If they have similar roles in the army list and anything resembling comparable armament, I'd say make them the same. There needs to be a compelling reason to make them appreciably different, not just some minor tweak. KISS and/or don't reinvent the wheel.

Well it was what the 'fans' wanted so it was included. I am just trying to find the balance. Simple as that

Well sure i could have balanced standard Terminators and Salamanders Terminators to allow bothunits in the Salamanders list. But why?
Heavy Flamer armed Terminators are very iconic for Salamanders so i put in only those.

For the Imperial Fists the Thunderhammer & Storm Shield equipped Terminators are iconic, so why allowing standard (Assault Cannon) Terminators too?

For Dark Angels i'm not so sure. The Deathwing formations allows 6 Terminator units (4 plus another 2 as upgrade) which shows the wider availablility of Tactical Dreadnought Armour for the Dark Angels 1st Company.
Yes the Deathwing Terminators in Wh40k are unique as they can mix standard and Assault Terminators in the same Squad. But as Standard Terminator units in Epic are allready very assaulty i see no special need to mix Standard and Assault Terminator units in a Deathwing formation and would just stick to 4 +2 Standard Terminator units per Deathwing formation.

As someone said: An army is not only defined by what new toys it gets but also what toys it doesn't have acess to.

It is just for the Experimental phase. I have both to see whether the Titanhammers by themselves are a viable choice against the standard termies. At V0.8, it is not even released as the playable 1.x release yet. It is just an experiment to determine what direction the Termies need to go in that specific list. I also have to determine whether the CC3+ and EA are both MW is too powerful.

People are just misunderstanding the list. It is still finding it's feet. The real test will be what armies are made from the list. Is something always taken? Is something never taken? How do Titanhammer selections compare to standard Termies? That is where that is going for now.

I cannot say whether one or both will make it to the list upon the 1.x releases, however the feedback is taken on board and I will continue at the current pace and make a decision in the new year at this stage.

I hope this clears up the whole 2 types of termies in the one list debate for the IF :)

......and what about making assault termies just an upgrade for the classic formation? something like "one stand may be upgraded to assault terminator squad for *** pts"? dropping their assulat cannon attacks for another MW attack in close combat or something like that?
