*re-awakening an old thread*

I'll start off by saying, "I love Raven Guard". I absolutely love them, beyond a doubt, their history, their army, Shrike...everything. Which is why i have a 40k army of them.

Down to business, has anyone finalized a Raven Guard list? There are a lot of great ideas here but i'd like to have a final list to play with. I'm sorry if i sound whiny or demanding.

Only one suggestioin to add here Neal, would be to allow a third 'Eldar style' retain when the spacecraft activates provided:-
- The Raven SC is still on the board
- The Raven have won an assault in the turn the spacecraft arrived

As it is we seem to be re-visiting Land Speeders (with scouts this time) - which seems to be a way of providing "Reinforced" scouts; and we have already provided Chaos with "scout" marines as described earlier!

So the only change really needed here would be to the spacecraft rules

Yeah, I was unaware of the scout-transport-speeder concept until just today.  I think it's definitely a good idea for a RG list.

Anyone know what weaponry the transport version is supposed to have?

i'd suggest just Heavy Bolter. With the added transport capacity there would be less room for munitions. As well... the land speeder would IMO only be there long enough to dump off the scouts.

Raven Guard 0.1

Army List Overview:

Heavy Scout unit added - Inf, 15cm 4+, 4+, 4+, Hvy Bolter, Scout
Upgrade (Scouts only) - 1-2 units plus transport, 50 points each

Land Speeder Transport - LV, 35cm, 4+, 6+, 5+, Scout, Skimmer, Transport (1)
Upgrade (Scouts only) - enough to transport the whole formation, +25 each

Raven Guard Assault - Inf, 15cm, 4+, 3+, 5+, transported as Tacticals
Formation - 4 units plus Transport, [same upgrades as Tacs], 150 points

No LR or Dev formations (too heavy for Guerrilla/Drop forces)


Deployment Rules:

No garrison except by Scouts.

Termies may use Drop Pods

Land Speeders may Planetfall

Planetfall may reroll scatter dice

===

Items to consider:

Add "assault" or "fast attack" upgrade to bolster Assault formations (like several of the SM variant lists).

Further restrict armor in some fashion (1 per infantry formation?)?

"Farsight" retain with spacecraft

Instead of naming them "Heavy Scouts" just go for "Veterans". So you don't have to create a new unit type which doesn't exist in Wh40k.
