What would be wrong in using the Thunderhawk Gunship stats but without the Battle Cannon and a different Transport ability?

I would say two Thunderhawk Transporters for 300pts.

If you want to prohibit players to use the Thunderhawk Transporter for ground-attacks because of fluff (which i pretty well understand) then simply disallow it in the units Notes section.

You have considered that 2 of the 4 Twin Heavy Bolters have only a range of 15cm instead of 30cm?

This is why i like to have DC3 with 4+ or 5+RA on both Thunderhawk variants :D

I think the flaw lies within the rulebook Thunderhawk and this flaw is carried over to variant Thunderhawks which makes it difficult to balance if you have more than one Thunderhawk in the formation (which is a must for Thunderhawk Transporters else you would only be able to transport Scouts or Devastators).

it is apity that a whole formation has to be ebale to teleport on the table to be used.
else you could reinforce your ...say.. Tactical Detachment with one or two Terminators before you assault (or during it!).
The same could be done with the Thunderhawk Transporter. During thegame it could land and reinforce a Detachment with a Land Raider and Terminators, etc...

There is no flaw on the TH. There is maybe one flaw on the THT but for sure no discussion about the standard TH.

Yes on its own the Thunderhawk Gunship is just fine but in a squadron of two it would be overpowered.
And a squadron of two Thunderhawk Transporters with the current Gunships stats IS overpowered.

But realisitically both aircrafts should have the same stats with the only differences the transport capacity and the Battle Cannon.

We agree to disagree here. Otherwise we continue to move in circels ;)

I would make all 4 heavy bolters 15cm range on the THT... Just make it 2 twin-heavy-bolters per side arc, both 15cm range (unlike the standard T-hawk there are no fixed forward bolters with longer range).

I don't see the issue... either you are taking one THT, in which case it doesn't carry as much firepower as the gunship, which is fair enough. Or you take two, in which case the relevant comparison should be the lander. Which totes comparable firepower to two THTs.

I would say 175 point per THT. 175 per transporter makes them only 25 points cheaper than the standard T-hawk, with less firepower, less troop transport capacity but the ability to transport vehicles. If you take two, that's exactly the same cost as the Landing Craft - for virtually the same thing: identical toughness and DC but with less transport capacity, more guns but no anti-tank. The transporters have anti-aircraft capacity which the Lander doesn't, but then the Lander is much superior in assaults. The Lander is all of your eggs in one basket, but the THTs are easier to shoot down individually and easier to suppress.

You only have 2x twin heavy bolters for weapons... but the model has 4x twin heavy bolters.

I can't support your stats for this beast until you upgun it to 4x Twin Heavy Bolters, and give them fire arcs (Like the thunderhawk gunship).

The Marine Landing Craft has AA .

The 3 Twin Heavy Bolters are AA 5+ all round.

should be ?3 x Twin heavy bolters, Range

This was added into the errata and FAQs section soon after publication of the rulebook when quite a few misprints were found.

I quite like Lord =I= suggestion of a pair of weaker Transporters for the same cost. They are easier to shoot down individually, but have the same overall DC, and can carry vehicles.

Just for me, what would the transport capacity of the THT be - are you considering increasing it to allow the THT to carry three Rhinos or two Land Raiders - or are you going for the Forgeworld version of Two Rhinos / one Land Raider??

I think everyone is assuming it can only carry one Land Raider or two other vehicles. Although I've added Thunderhawk Transporters into my Grey Knight list which can carry two Land Raiders each (as there was absolutely no way I could work them into the list otherwise).
