So i ran DA twice on the weekend, against Vi'orla Tau and Marines using

Ravenwing 350
4x Bikes
4x Land Speeders

Ravenwing 350

I won vs Marines quite thoroughly and only pulled off a victory vs the Tau due to poor rolling by my opponent turn 3 (Rolled consecutive 1's for 4 of his activations, I had barely anything left)

Current Hunt for the Fallen list seems quite good, both opponents said it was quite good and fair and enjoyed the flavor of it.
Ravenwing is an issue, while i enjoy the restrictions forcing you to take the formation, it is a costly super fragile unit, being forced to mix LV and infantry opens it for a world of hurt. Both my opponents agree it should be cheaper, or standard with 8 bikes initially with options to swap LS/AB in. Then to have options of Ravenwing support to take Land speeders.

Current Nephalim, no-one thought they are an issue in the slightest, especially wit hall the TAU aircraft and AA around.


I'm going to try another list for the tourney in 3 weeks, maybe a bit of an "ALL IN" strategy

No it's not being tested nor supported at this time in NetEA. I've been content to leave it here for those that find an interest in it but it's effectively canceled for the foreseeable future. If people suddenly actually making batreps I'd reconsider but until then...

i just took the list for a walk vs. a knight world list of beelzemetz.

i took a not opponent optimized list, since i didn't know which army i would face and he didn't knew either.

i would like to post a full report, but unfortunadtley my setup and approach was so bad, paired with some ridiciously bad rolls, that i got devastated in the first round with no real hope of recovery. So there is not much to say regarding experience.

but some thoughts on the general feeling, though.

the thought behind the list was to go for his bts with the deathwing via teleport, put the devastators on garrison/overwatch to cover the moves of the ravenwing and predators. after those having fulfilled their roles the thunderhawk to pick up the devastators or deathwing (which would have suffered some casualties for sure to fit into the thunderhawk) and pull again a nice assault stunt in a place of my chosing the next round.

welll it would have worked partially would my opponents not have been knights. i had a juicy target of a household of crusaders intermingled with a paladin household and i decided to snatch 2 of his activations before the game had stated properly for i won the strategy roll. unfortunatedly i could not place a bm on the knights first because i misjudged the range of the whirlwinds, but catching the crusaders in cc and staying out of countercharge range of the paladins was worth it i decided, for the paladins were blocked by the crusaders as i was attacking from behind (this reminds me that we forgot in that engagement that the crusaders would have blocked also the ff LOS of the paladins, but i doubt there would have been much difference). my rolls were pretty decent as i scored 5 normal hits and 6 mw hits. but those pesty knight shields denied the macroweapons and beelzemetz rolled fantasticaly high for every save. i only caused 3 points of damage with all 11 hits. in return i recieved 5 normal hits of which i failed 4 reinforced and 1 inv. save. and that was it for that engagement. he scored 6 in resolution and i 2 which brutalized the remainders of the deathwing but for the chaplain (which was killed by the paladins the next activation and even scoring all hits 1 normal and 2 mw he did cause no damage but failed his first reinforced save and inv. of course). a quite shocking result.
in return his artillery of which he had 18bp in total in 4 formations killed and blastmarkered my devatators (in cover), my ravenwing and predators as i failed nearly every save. my nephylim got both shot down by thunderbolts without managing to hit or penetrate their attackers steel like 6+ saves first and failing both of their own 5+ and my thunderhawk being shot down with a single crtitical (failing reinforced saves again). with my pradators taking a hold action I decided to end this farce, for their was nothing i could do against the phalanx of knigts and beelzemetz seemingly magical dice. i could not see how to pull up a crossfire situation or damaging the knights by straight shooting. assaults where out of the question by now. having no aircraft left, haveing lost my bts and facing a next round of trashing artillery i could think of nothing to compete.

so in this game was nothing to gain for me insight wise.

in hindsight i should have put the devastators in the t-hawk and support a deathwing assault in round 2 or something but that would have meant everything else on the table would have had to face his artillery. so the ravenwing and predators would have been pulped (considering my awfull saving throws). so i still dont see how i could have competed on even terms.


still there arose some questions regarding the list:

1. what does the ravenwing tactics upgrade do? it is not expained in the upgrade section

2. are the stats for the land raider ares correct? for its points with no transport capacity it seems overpriced.

3. is there any chance to get some cheap activation without having to by costly core formations? and even scouts are at 200pts and you need to unlock them.

4. regarding the missing we and allies might it be possible to think about working a relic glaive superhaevy tank into to list to buff it a bit (as the fluff mentiones them for dark angels) and the approved imperial fists list has their relic fellblades.. ?

5. the nephylim does not seem overpriced for their stats but in list bulidings they bog you down quite heavily and i dont think you can go without air cover by just boosting many formations with hunters and therefore reducing your activations again..

Correct as in what AoC had intended to write? I assume so. Balanced or appropriate? Unable to compute as people don't batrep this list.

Do whatever you want. This is effectively a fan-list already. Actually for the record you could do whatever you want with any list anyways-It only really matters when you're in a tournament setting generally.

not really a question rather a pointer. this is about the list being very expensive unlockwise.


in general i have been struggling to create a list with more than 8 activations.
so if it is ok for the community i would like to put some work to the list and hear the communities opinions. i thought about giving it a slightly different approach. i'm just not sure if the army list champion would approve..

There's a big rework of this list coming out in the next month, so stay tunned.
(Would be sooner, but the Australian epic championship is on next weekend, so we're all a bit pre-occupied)

Still recovering from the Australian Championships

But you'll like the re-work I assure you, we're still just gathering some feedback from some of the top Australian player base before releasing here for playtests and comments. But It's main aims are to bring it in line with the current 40k Dark Angels Codex.
