Hi,

before Corey releases the next version of the Necron list, I'd like to bring attention to a minor problem: the somewhat clunky points costs of the Phalanx and the Monolith. They cost 235 points and 65 points (respectively), making it rather difficult to reach just 2700 points or 3000 points.

Now, as I said, this isn't a big problem, but wouldn't it make the Necron players' lives easier if the Phalanx's cost went down to 225 while the Monolith's went up to 75 ? The Monolith seems a bit undercosted anyway, so...

Monolith most certainly needs to cost more. 75 or perhaps 100.

I think at 75 and "Extra attacks +3", it would be OK.

But if the "+1 EA per unit in range" rule stays, it would certainly be worth 100 points.

I'd like to see them go to 225 and 75. That'd fit better with the point costs. I've been trying to draft a Necron army and keep coming up with 20 or 30 spare points. Which of course I can't spend, because nothing costs that amount in the army... I like the '+1 per enemy in range' ability on them. It feels right, and it fits the style they have in 40K (they shoot up everything around them indescriminatelly, and all at once!). Perhaps moving them to FF 6+ would work? Or just pump them to 100 points each. Which would make them quite expensive, but they'd be very very good. I'd like that, I think. Since they're Fearless and they get to phase+teleport.

I love the "+1 EA per unit in range", it makes Monoliths appropriately terrifying.

I just think the rule/wording needs to be clarified to specifically indicate that it's (I hope!) just enemy units *directly involved* in the current assault and not *any* that might be nearby or supporting.

75-100 points seems much more reasonable a cost, as they are scary and, usually, require a lot of firepower to take out.

We've played it that way too. It makes more sense and keeps the Monolith's power level in check.

I can go with the cost changes.

try things out with the 225/75 combo.

Might I suggest bumping Immortals and Pariahs up to 50 points each so that then the whole list is increments of 25 points?

that sounds reasonable

I like that.  :)
