Setup

4x4 table
Necrons chose edge deployment.

Garrisons and Deployment

Necrons kept all Monoliths, the Pylon and Phalanx 4 in reserve.

Necrons garrisoned Phalanxes 2 and 3 on overwatch and in cover.

LatD garrisoned all three Covens, with Coven 3 in overwatch and in range of Phalanx 3.  The Hellfire Cannons were also garrisoned and placed on overwatch.

Turn 1

Monoliths 1 and 2 appear deep within Chaos lines, with Monolith 2 receiving a Blast marker, while the Pylon also receives a Blast marker appearing in the ruins at the top of the hill.



Strategy roll: LatD (With a "6", granting 2 more Lesser Daemons.)

The Scout Titans advance away from Monolith 1, turning around to open fire on them? and manage to crack open the Monolith itself!

The Silver Towers hover in place to sustain fire on Monolith 2 destroying all 3 Obelisks. ("I really thought I was going to go first," mutters the Necron player. *laugh*)

The Obelisks of Monolith 1 sustain fire on the Chaos Scout Titans in preparation for an assault? that isn't to come as they realize they don't have a Portal with them anymore!

Phalanx 4 pours out of Monolith 2 to engage the Silver Towers.  One Warrior goes down and 1 Tower goes down and the Necrons win the fight.  The fearless Daemon Engines skim deeper up the left flank.

Dropping their overwatch, the Hellfire Cannons sustain fire on Phalanx 4, behind them? laying a single Blast marker.

Phalanx 2 doubles forward to fire on Coven 1, placing a single Blast marker.

Coven 1 summons 4 Flamers of Tzeentch and engages Phalanx 2 in a vicious fight.  The culists loose 1 Flamer, 1 Cultist, and 2 Mutants while the Necrons only loose 1 Warrior and push the cultists back (lost by "1") causing the three remaining daemons to flee.

Coven 2 summons up 2 Daemonic Beasts and also engages Phalanx 2.  They manage to kill the Pariah and suffer no losses in return, breaking the Necrons.

The Pylon attempts to sustain fire on the Hellfire Cannons, but something shorts out and it takes another Blast marker, breaking.  (Behold the power of Chaos!)

Coven 3 sustains fire on Phalanx 3? causing no hits.

Phalanx 3 responds by advancing closer and blasting away a Cultist.

Phalanx 1 goes on overwatch?

End of Turn: All broken Necron formations fade away.
Only the Obelisks of Monolith 1 rally for the Necrons.

While only Coven 3 fails for the Lost and the Damned.

Turn 2

Monolith 2 appears near the Chaos Titans while Monolith 3 shows up near the Hellfire Cannons.



Strategy roll: Necrons

The Obelisks of Monolith 1 advance on the Scout Titans, laying a Blast marker.

Synchronizing Portals, Phalanx 1 enters the Tomb Complex and emerges from Monolith 2 to engage the Scout Titans.  The battle is savage: 3 Warriors and the Pariah are crushed, while the Subjugator takes 2DC and the Questor 1DC, the support fire has stripped all Void Shields as well? the Necrons barely win, but are broken for their victory.

The Hellfire Cannons again sustain fire, blowing away the 2 Obelisks of Monolith 3, but the broken Monolith holds its ground.

The Silver Towers hover again, sustaining fire on Phalanx 3 wiping them all out except for 1 Warrior.

Phalanx 4 engages the Hellfire Cannons in a fire fight? and loose 1 Warrior and are broken for their trouble.

Phalanx 2 tries to do the same thing, but stumble out of the Portal of broken Monolith 3 and wind up heading for cover.

Coven 3 doubles over towards Phalanx 2, but fire on the broken Monolith 3, to no effect.

Coven 2 marches up the hill, spreading out and positioning some Big Mutants ready to attack the Pylon.

End of Turn: All broken Necron formations fade away.

And, incredibly, all on board formations rally? yes, even the Pylon? ;)

Turn 3

Monolith 3 appears near the Chaos Titans again.



Strategy roll: Necrons

The Pylon sustains fire on the Scout Titans? and obliterates the Questor! ?The surviving Titan moves away from the nearby Monolith...

But the Obelisks of Monolith 1 double in hot pursuit? scoring 2 hits? and killing the Subjugator! ?(Who knew Necrons could show such blood lust!)

The Hellfire Cannons double around the ruins to fire on Monolith 3? splitting it into two chunks? and leaving the Necrons with a single Portal?

Coven 2 engages the Pylon, getting 4 Big Mutants into base contact and a straggling Mutant within firefight range to maintain coherency? the Pylon is torn down without any loses to the forces of Chaos, who then secure Necron Objective 1

Peaking out from the Tomb Complex's Portal, Phalanx 1 marshals and restores most of their losses.

Coven 3 advances, spreading out to control LatD Objectives 1 and 2 while firing on Phalanx 2 in crossfire? destroying two Warriors and breaking the formation!

The Silver Towers advance to Necron Objective 2, and then pop-up to hit the Obelisks of Monolith 1, destroying 1 and breaking the formation.

Coven 1 marches back to secure the Chaos Blitz?

End of Turn: All broken Necron formations fade away.

Lost and the Damned 3 (DTF, T-n-H, TSNP) vs Necrons 1 (BTS)

(No end of turn pic as we were cleaning up for the second game.)

Thanks for the nice report, Chroma! :)

I would just question the wisdom of deploying 3 out of 4 Phalanxes. What with their very short range, poor firepower, and limited movement, they are hardly a threat and force you to teleport a Monolith near them if you want to move them later during the battle.

That said, I've never played against a LatD army, so perhaps occupying terrain and deploying in cover is a good tactic against them.
