One of my best friends moved from an hour and a half away to 10 minutes away last month, so all that saved time has been spent on gaming!  *laugh*  As well, my girlfriend is working hard on her Masters and does some volunteer work every Thursday evening, so I'm got at least one night a week open for gaming.  *laugh*  Lastly, my game-log system really makes it easy to do up batreps.  I'll have to clean it up and post it some time!

Setup

4x4 table
Black Legion chose edge deployment.

Garrisons and Deployment

Black Legion kept the Chosen in reserve.

Necrons kept their entire army in reserve.

No garrisons were placed.

Black Legion "hedgehogged" all units in a defensive crescent as shown below:

Turn 1

Necrons teleported in 3 Monolith formations and 2 Pylons; Monolith 3 suffered a single blast marker on arrival.



Strategy roll: Necrons

Pylon 1 immediately sustains fire on Assault Company 2, vaporizing 1 Decimator.

Pylon 2 follows up on with the same and eliminates Assault Company 2!  (I didn't move the broken Decimator because I really didn't expect my opponent to "finish off" the formation? *sigh*)

Assault Company 1 doubles towards Monolith 1 and actually takes out the formation's Monolith!

Feral Titan 1 tries to finish off the remaining Obelisks, but only staggers forward.

Phalanx 1 appears from the Portal in Monolith 2 and marches back to the Necron Blitz.

Feral Titan 2 doubles on Monolith 3 and blasts apart 1 Obelisk.

The Predators double up against the same target and wipe out both the remaining Obelisk and the Monolith!  (Losing 2 unactivated Portals in Turn 1, my opponent was feeling a little worried?)

Monolith 2 advances on the Armoured Company and Particle Whips 1 Predator into oblivion.

Feral Titan 2 doubles towards Monolith 2 and lays a single blast marker?

End of Turn: All formations rally and the broken Obelisks of Monolith 1 fade from sight?

Turn 2

Necrons teleport in Monolith formations 1 and 4, another Pylon and the Deceiver; Monolith 4 receives a single blast marker on arrival.

Strategy Roll: Black Legion

Feral Titan 2 sustains fire on Monolith 2, blasting apart 2 Obelisks.

The Armoured Company advances on the Deceiver and actually manages to do 1DC damage!

The C'Tan retaliates by sustaining fire on the Predators.  Once succumbs to despair and 3 blast markers are placed.

Pylon 3 then sustains fire into the back of Feral Titan 3, but only manages to drop 1 Void Shield.

Assault Company 1 doubles around the ruins to slam both nearby Pylons with a massive 6BP barrage, no damage is caused, but both of the Necron death-ray projectors are broken. (Boy, was my opponent surprised by *that*!  *laugh*)

Feral Titan 1 doubles towards Monolith 4, taking out 1 Obelisk and breaking the formation? which doesn't flee.

The Obelisks of Monolith 1 sustain fire on Feral Titan 3, dropping a Void Shield and doing 1DC damage, breaking the Titan which flees to Chaos Obj 2.

Phalanx 2 emerges from the Portal in Monolith 2 to engage the Armoured Company with the support of the Deceiver.  The Predators are wiped out for the cost of a single Necron Warrior.

The Equus formation finally makes an appearance, racing out of Monolith 4's Portal and firing on Assault Company 1, doing 2DC damage to the lead Decimator.

Phalanx 1 goes on overwatch to guard the Blitz?

End of Turn: Feral Titan 3 fails to rally for the Black Legion, and Phalanx 1 and Pylon 1 fail for the Necrons and broken the broken Monolish vanishes...

Turn 3

The Chosen teleport into the ruins near the Necron Blitz and receive an incredible 3 blast markers for their trouble.

Monolith 2 appears near them, but suffers some wind shear and gets a blast marker, breaking, but holding its ground.  Monolith 4 appears near Assault Company

Strategy Roll: Black Legion

Feral Titan 1 advances on the Eques formation and obliterates 4 Heavy Destroyers, easily breaking the Necrons who flee deep into the woods near the Chaos deployment zone.

Feral Titan 2 continues the assault by doubling back after them and wiping them out and contesting the Chaos Blitz.

Phalanx 3 engages the Chosen via the Portal in Monolith 2 and with the support of Phalanx 1.  The Necron Lord, the Pariah, and a single Necron Warrior are felled, but all the Chosen are slain, leaving the Daemon Prince all along and broken.

Pylon 2 sustains fire on Assault Company 1, destroying 1 of the Decimators with a  critical, breaking the formation.

Pylon 3 takes a long range sustained fire shot at Feral Titan 2 but only negates a Void Shield.

Monolith 4 hovers over on a double to secure Chaos Objective 1.

Phalanx 1 moves to engage the cowering Daemon Prince of the Chosen and lose 2 Necron Warriors wiping him out.

The Obelisks of Monolith 1 advance on Feral Titan 2, but only drop its Void Shield and are unable to break it.

The Deceiver doubles towards Chaos Objective 2 threatening any that come near it?

End of Turn: Black Legion 1 (BTS) vs Necrons 2 (BTS, T-n-H).

Great batrep Chroma (again!).  And finally someone managed to defeat you :p

I guess a lot of living metal is one way to counter the mass MWs of the BL armoured list.  Was an unusual game for the Necrons, much less assaulting from the portals than I expected.  The BL army had quite a number of good targets for the pylons, which I think made a difference.  And a good move from the Necron player to move back and guard the blitz.  Did you consider activating the Chosen before they were assaulted?

For the Necrons, I thought the Eques somewhat failed to deliver.  Selecting the right kind of formation for the BTS goal is definately something the Necrons have to consider carefully.

Yeah, I do *occasionally* get beat around here... *laugh*

As to the Chosen, getting 3 BMs from teleporting put a real crimp in their plans to assault anybody, and hampered their shooting as well.  I was hoping for some kind of opportunity to jump out at me or that they'd be able to survive a Necron engage and then counter-attack later, but was not to be.

Losing two unactivated Portals in the first turn really put a damper on the Necron ability to use all their reserves.  I *love* the full Heavy Destroyer Eques, and, had they gotten out Turn 1, I think they would've done a lot more damage.

Necrons do have to be careful with deciding on a BTS unit, especially if they don't take one of the Harvester Engines, as, if broken in Turn 3, that formation is going to count as destroyed.
