Did everyone know that Jes Goodwin had done concept sketches for some big, veiny Necron stuff? I was completely clueless until this thread on the SG boards.
It has a War Altar and a War Barge, although the poster (wja2000) refers to the War Barge as an Obelisk. Personally, I think the Barge looks bigger than a Monolith from the sketches.
Just thought some of you guys might want to take that into account when it comes to brainstorming design concepts.

I don't like the war altar, it looks a little too He-Man for me. Seriously, a giant skull? I prefer my necron WEs cold and impersonal. (I can't actually see the SG forum thread, but someone posted it in the 6mm modeling forum here http://www.epic40k.co.uk/epicomm....;t=6626 ).
If that's not the sketch you're talking about, then just ignore what I said.

Those concepts had been presented on the 40K Necron section of the web, and if I'm not mistaken, on WD as well (UK versions). One was a concept for the Monolith; can't remember what the other was - or which was which.
