Okay, here are my questions relating to the Epic Necron list:

1. Scarab swarms.  How do these work?  I noticed a little blast-template type thing in a pdf that looked like a bunch of scarabs.  Are you supposed to use them as you would a BP weapon (everything under the scarab swarm is hit on a ap5/at5)?

2. Is the spacecraft supposed to count toward the 1/3 War Engine limit?  It isn't specified like the other lists, but I didn't know if this was done on purpose or accident.

3. How big is the Abattoir supposed to be?  I have a base to what-will-be my model that is about 4 1/2 inches wide and 2 3/4 inches long.  Is this too big?  I figured if it is under the size of the Manta I'd be safe, but wasn't sure.

4. Destroyers, Wraiths, Spyders, etc.  How many to a base?  Phalanx and Venator units are pretty easy, but I wasn't sure about the others.

Thanks for the help!

You might check to see which version of the list you are looking at. The most current is v4 in which scarabs are treated as a weapon on a unit capable issuing them.

2. Is the spacecraft supposed to count toward the 1/3 War Engine limit?  It isn't specified like the other lists, but I didn't know if this was done on purpose or accident.

You should count the spacecraft as a... spacecraft and it should come from the aerospace allocations.

Really good question and I think the size you are proposing is very workable.

For each of those units, you should look in the list to see what they are classified as, then look in the rule book to see how many figures per base/stand you'll need.

Well, I guess I could have checked the stat lines for how to base them, but that's too easy...

As for the Aerospace allocation.... Check version 4.0. There isn't one.  All it says is "No more than 1/3 of your points may be spent on War Engines."  Spacecraft are not War Engines.

So my question still stands... Was this done by accident or by design?

I think it's unnecassary to have any sort of restriction on spacecrafts in the Necron list, since you're limited to 0-1 Scythe.

So I would just buy the spacecraft with the 2/3 of the points allocated for the non-War Engine part of the army.

on the Spacecraft:  It's intentional. There is no need for a point restriction on it.  The only reason it's in the list at all, is because it has to be.

The way I do basing:

Spyder - 1 to stand.  (It's an AV)
Wraith, Destroyers - 3 to stand.  Fits with the unit size from 40k.

Scarabs are a direct fire weapon.  No template is involved.

Thanks Corey and everyone else.  I've collected 42 stands worth of Chaos Androids as proxies plus a bunch of Scarabs, so I am ready to start building!

Corey,

Was the original idea for the Scarab weapon to be a blast template?  Just wondering about the scarab paper model circle thingy.

Jervis' origional list had them as an actual unit.  That may be what the circle thing was for.

But since he made clear that less models is better, I figured it would be easier to get the figures made if those tiny things were taken out of the equation.

There was a point, however, where the idea was tossed around to use them as a BP weapon.  It's possible someone made a template to test the idea.   :D
