I got finally time to play EA again. This time it was against Necron. For full battle report check the Tyranid EA forum. Anyhow we encountered a few questions along the battle about the necron 3.5 list.

1. Spacecraft. Definately not worth the 350pts. Atleast the way we played it (1 round in game only, defined before hand). Perhaps the 200/250pts it used to be is better.

2. Scarab. There was a scarab template in the cut-away things in Fanatic 36. Is there any use for them? Only things that I could find was just a ordinary weapon (well if 30cm AP, (small arms) and (base contact) in one weapon is ordinary).

3. Wraith. Should it have +1 extra attack? Eg currently we read it to be 1 attack, but we didn't use it in game, so came up later.

4. Could the Lord have a possible leader upgrade? As in Resurrection Orb (or whats its name)?

5. Can necron repair using marshal orders in game? Or does it need to be phase out for this.

6. AEonic Orb. The critical says there is a great explosion. So it is assumed that the orb blows. However it is not actually said in there. So should critacal include that the orb is destroyed when this happens?

Well, the points were upped to bring them in line with most other ships availible to other armies.  Their stats are still in the works.

Personally, I think any starships are rarely worth the points you spend on them.

2. Scarab. There was a scarab template in the cut-away things in Fanatic 36. Is there any use for them? Only things that I could find was just a ordinary weapon (well if 30cm AP, (small arms) and (base contact) in one weapon is ordinary).
It was simpler to make the scarabs into a simple weapon (to avoid the need to make a mini for it).  It represents the unit which posseses the weapon being able to create the Scarabs,a nd then sending them out to attack.

3. Wraith. Should it have +1 extra attack? Eg currently we read it to be 1 attack, but we didn't use it in game, so came up later.

Wraiths should have Extra attack (+1).  I put the 2x in there to remind myself to give them the extra attack ability, but forgot to actually but it in the weapon line.

4. Could the Lord have a possible leader upgrade? As in Resurrection Orb (or whats its name)?
The Lord should have Leader in place of Inspiring.  It is indeed to represent a Resurrection Orb.   :D

5. Can necron repair using marshal orders in game? Or does it need to be phase out for this.

Yes!  In fact this is the intention.  Phased out formations do NOT get to replace any troops when they rally.  The ability only works on formations that are ON the board.

6. AEonic Orb. The critical says there is a great explosion. So it is assumed that the orb blows. However it is not actually said in there. So should critacal include that the orb is destroyed when this happens?
Origionally, it was true that it was destroyed.  However, I was convinced to try it as a Barrage template.

In fact, what I have considered, is to just call it a BP4 attack with the MW ability.  Because the template is centered on the Aeonic orb, it would take 3 attacks.

If your formations are minimum size, then yes, the ability won't be as much use.

This is also intentional.  You can't nickle and dime an enemy to death with infinately regenerating little formations.  If you want to be able to make real use of the ability, you have to have larger formations.  Which means buying upgrades.

The Orb is NOT destroyed by the crit itself.  The Crit indicated a breach in the Necrodermis containing the Stellar fragment.  so there is an uncontrolled plasma burst.  This burst can further damage the Orb, but is not an automatic death.

For Necron ability. Well, my friend isn't going to be happy. But who am I to argue more trouble to myself :D.

Orb. Ah, ok. Perhaps could then add to end that last line. "This containment breach can further damage the Orb, but is not an automatic destruction.".

Good Idea, I'll do that.

corey3750, have you looked into getting your own Necron section in the EPIC Playtest area?

Seems like a good idea!

The offer was made in another thread, and I responded in the affirmative.  :D
