I'm sure there are a few WH40K players here that have played with or against the current WH40K necron codex. I'm in the process of building a new list that doesn't involve portals (so no monoliths) (except maybe for the tomb complex) or phase out at all but instead focuses around formation types and proximity to buff nearby friendly formations. Basing it on the current Decurion type necron builds in WH40K. It would introduce a novel type of army strategy. The main special rule: Decurion: all friendly units (or possibly formations) with in 15cm gain "X" stat and/or "Y" buff. Benifits are cumulative if multiple Decurion formations are in range. Broken formations do not convey their bonus to friendly units in range. The list structure so far is essentially small basic formations with the different types of decurion characters as add-ons. The formations when working together in close proximity will be strong but individual formations can be easily broken thus reducing the effectiveness of all the formations in the Decurion range. Just hoping to gauge interest as this will be very hard to balance though if done right I think could be extremely strategically stimulating. Comments welcome, it might be too far outside of the box. |

I don't know anything about that type of necron but sure sounds different than what we've got! |

Sounds super interesting and potentially very cool, but also potentially a logistical nightmare to track during play. |

To make it more simple it would have to be if any units from a formation is in the Decurion 15cm the whole formation benifits. Otherwise it will be a measuring nightmare. Thought this also poses problems with players stretching formations into chains to maximize inclusion. Though thats not necessarily bad as they will be very susceptable clipping assaults and taking casualties putting formations out of cohesion. I'll have to revise the base rule to address these issues. |
