Post subject: | My conversions |
I've been asked a few times to make tutorials for my conversions of the newer necron units. I've been thinking of doing that for some time now but have been pushing it back several times for other hobby stuff. Today I realised just how short my memory can be, when I updated my painting thread. I've actually already done some tutorials that I posted in that thread. So I thought I'd repost them share them here as they're more likely to be seen here by those interested. thanks. First of the Triarch stalkers. Quote: Batter late than never... Here are the promised tutorial on how I made my ne(w)cron stuff. The first is the Triarch Stalker: Pieces I used (all from 40k necrons sets bought through bits stores). The claws are from the wraith set. Torso part is from the triarch praetorian set. First step is to cut away the balls pointing out from it. Secondly I cut away som of the stuff underneath to make it flatter and also to widen and deepen the half circle socket at the back (if that makes any sense): Cut the machine leg parts in half. Keep this part Glue them to the half circle socket (or preferably pin them): Take the claw part and cut it like this: Take the lower thinner part and bend it like this: Glue four of these to the previously glued on leg part, like this: Glue (or pin) the legs with thick claws to the front and the rider in place. Glue weapon of choice underneath it, I have used a part of the lychguard sword for the weapon. Then paint and your ready. Like this. I hope that's helpful. ![]() Ghost ark to follow And then my ghost ark that can of course just be inverted to also make a doomsday ark. Quote: Now for the second tutorial the ghost ark: These are the parts I used. The transparent thing are a instant mold material that I used to replicate a green stuff piece I made for the "ribs" of the ghost ark. First step cut away all the thing pointing out from the torso part. Cut the spine thing in half and save one of the small pieces that you cut of in the last step. Glue them onto the "backpack ribs triarch praetorian part" for lack of a better name. Cut the robotic arm part in two. Glue it to the underside of the torso part at the back like this: Take a Lych guard sword and cut it like this. Being carful the keep the upper part to use as a weapon for the triarch stalker or other suitable epic conversion. ![]() ![]() Glue it underneath the from of the torso part. Make suitable ghost ark ribs from green stuff, molds like i did, plasticard or whichever way you can think of. Glue them to the sword blade part. Glue on the triarch back pack rib thing and rider like this. (I also added some small parts underneath it to the sides to act as engines like the 40k model has. The last step is actually preferable to do after painting as it becomes really difficult to paint the round ball on the torso part (I use it to look like some kind of necron power source). ![]() I hope these can be of help/inspiration ![]() thanks for watching |
