Had my first game tonight. 0-4 loss vs Biel-Tan Eldar, 3000 pts

Warrior Phalanx (Supreme Commander) 275
Warrior Phalanx (1 Immortals) 275
Custodian Phalanx 200

Eques Maniple 350
Monolith Maniple 200
Monolith Maniple 200
Pylon Network 400
Tomb Guardian Maniple (Pariahs) 375

Tomb Sphynx 500

3 Tomb Complexes 225

Eldar had Bombers, 2x Nightwings, Mounted Dire Avenger host (BTS), jetbikes, guardians, Void Spinner, Falcons and a Swooping Hawk host.

Hilly terrain, which gave the Eldar plenty to hide behind. They exploited it to pop up and hit and run to good effect. Highlights:

- Void Spinner, Rangers and Jetbikes combine to break the Pylon Network on a triple activation to start the game. Void Spinner put 2 more BMs on them at the start of turn 2 and 3, keeping it broken for the duration of the game (no damage).
- Tomb Sphynx doubles up on turn one without anything in sight (Rangers wiped out by an assault earlier). Air Force puts BMs on it. Turn 2 falcons inflict 3 hits, breaking it, and finishing it off in turn 3 (failed to rally after t2).
- Dire Avengers (BTS) finally chased down and killed by a Warrior Phalanx, it had earlier wiped out another Phalanx and the Custodians in an intermingled assault and broken the Tomb Guardians when they assaulted the Avengers (Avengers broke from BMs after that assault, but rallied).
- Destroyers came on in turn 2 and whittled Jetbikes down to 2 units, broken in turn 3 before acting.
- Only the Pylons remained on the board in turn 3, all other units killed or phased out.

Yeek! Sounds like you got trunced! The pylon network thing is just bad in my opinion. You got take em in singles. But it seemed like the terrain favored your opponent a fair bit much. Tombs worlds like flat open boards with trees. Poor sphynx!

Second game, 3500 pts against IG Steel Legion. Won on victory points by about 750 points.

Same list as above, but added another Monolith maniple (200pts), added second Custodian phalanx and gave both Custodian formations 2 scarab swarms (250pts and +50pts).

IG had 2 Russ companies, 2 Mech inf companies, a Shadowsword, Vultures, one Sentinel squadron, a battery of basilisks, a battery of Manticores and a Hydra battery.

Hightlights:
- Vultures use their pods and together with a Russ formation kills the Pylons.
- A warrior phalanx uses a Monolith to kill the Manticore battery. The second Russ company and a mech inf company doubles over and breaks the warriors (but 4 survive and phase out).
- Turn 2 everything turns to shit for the IG as the Necrons pass virtually all their saves, including Obelisks. They must have inflicted somewhere between 20 and 30 hits on LM formations, for the loss of a single Obelisk.
- Tomb Guardians assault an 7-strong Russ company with a BM, inflicts 5 hits and the Russes fail all(!) their saves. One loss in return and the remaining Russes are wiped out.
- Basilisk break the Tomb Guardians, Mech company chases them down and wipe them out.
- Turn 3 and 4 sees the Necrons holding both T&H objectives on the IG half, and in position to capture all on their own half. IG manages to contest both the Blitz (with Vultures and a lone Hydra) and one other on their half with a Mech company. Necrons too busy keeping full strength Russ and Mech companies away from the blitz to take out stragglers, resulting in a winning draw to the Necrons.
