As above.

It's explained how the army gets it and that's it's a Portal on the Necron Individuals chart.

It's mentioned that two Necron formations can garrison around it in the Garrisons paragraph in the Necron Epic Tournament special rule.

So why is the paragraph under Necron Technology needed at all? The only thing it's adding is the note about measuring from the board edge when using the Portal. That really shouldn't even be in a unit special rule as it's Epic Tournament Game scenario specific. That little note could easily be put in the Necron Individuals chart and the rest of the TC text under Necron Tech dropped.

There's no Eldar Wraithgate technology special rule, just Webway Portal and the notes on how to use a Wraithgate in the Eldar Individuals chart.

Actually, the webway portal description is on Swordwind page 11 under the "Eldar technology" special box as well as in the Army List Individuals section. When we put together the Necron army list, Chroma laid it out in a like manner. I liked the format and kept it.

I suppose the flip of that question is will it cause more confusion if you remove it? I don't know. Maybe?

I think you're misunderstanding me. I know the Webway Portal special rule is on page 11. My point is the Wraithgate (an objective that uses the Webway Portal special rule) isn't there with it, it's solely on the army list.

I'm suggesting we mirror that, i.e. remove the Tomb Complex from the Necron Technology special rule because it's not a special rule, merely a function of the army list like the Wraithgate.

So in essence:

Eldar have a Webway Portal special rule -> Necron have a Portal special rule

Eldar have a Wraithgate individual on the army list -> Necron have a Tomb Complex individual on the army list

Eldar don't have a Wraithgate special rule -> the Necron Tomb Complex special rule can be removed because it's superfluous

The Eldar have a general webway rule because I believe they wrote it in anticpation of there being larger webway portals that would appear on later lists (all the language points in that direction).

We never wrote the Tomb Complex rules with such intentions, although I could easily see that working too. With that said, I think removing it might be okay. Once again I don't see the harm it does, but if you have a bee in your bonnet then I'd say go for it. Maybe Zombocom has some extra insight into the matter, however.

Remove it if you want as long as nothing is lost, i.e. as long as all the information is replicated elsewhere.
