Hi I want to start a necron army. I have one question. At first I thought that I'd make them from GW's old chaos androids, buying from ebay (a daunting project). But then I got a tip from Otterman that I could use Exodus Wars, edenite warriors http://www.exoduswars.com/store/edenite-infantry-squad-p-305.html. Have any of you here used them? Are they compairable in size (I might want to mix them with the androids) to the androids?

Don't bother scouring the net for androids, unless you really like the models.

Vaaish has used EW Edenites for his force. Of course, Vaaish also painted them, which means they look like gold no matter what, but they are excellent models. I can attest this from having seen them used in a local players army. They are more or less the new "official" Necron models.

All E/W and DRM for that matter, are compatible with G/W Epic. They were designed that way ... I'm using E/W's Edenites, DRMs Androids and G/W Chaos Andriods in my Necron forces ...

lets put it this way, i originally bought and painted an army of chaos androids. then the exodus wars released there edenites, i went and bought them and got rid of the androids.
exodus wars stuff looks WAY better (cheaper too)

I have a modeling question. I plan on starting my force with three phalanxes. Do the Lord have to be in one of the
warrior units? Or can I put the Lord in an immortal or pariah unit if I buy those upgrades?

BTW had my first Epic game in 12 or 13 years in the past weekend. We of course played a lot of rules wrong but I
really enjoyed the new rules.

You can put the Lord in any unit in the formation, including in upgrades.

AFAIK, yes. The character can be added to any unit in the formation. Upgrades are part of the formation. QED.

I've always assumed the lord needs to be with the warriors. Upgrades come after you've purchased the core formation and since the core formation is 6 stands of warriors and a lord character it follows that he will already be in one of those stands before you buy any upgrades.

If you add Pariahs to a Phalanx are they part of the formation? If so, then they are an eligable target for Lord inclusion. Now, the wording is loose here. It specifically states "taken as an upgrade". However, here is my thought on the matter. Feel free to pick apart the logic.

A Phalanx has "Six Warriors and one Necron Lord character" add a Pariah to the formation, and maybe three Tomb Spyders for good measure. The formation now consists of:

6 Warriors
1 Pariah
3 Tomb Spyders
1 Necron Lord Character

It is at this point (or possibly even pregame, like Commissars) that you assign the Lord. Otherwise the list would read "Six Warriors, one with a Necron Lord character", no?
