EDIT: Change Document to make these playtests either can be found here.

Following the logic of this thread here-
http://www.tacticalwargames.net/forums/ ... 70;t=17389
-it would make sense to have some testing of these things.

If you have a Necron army or the ability to Vassal, I am asking for you Tomb-heads to help out with the Raiders update by getting at least one batrep done by the first week of January.

When you do your game, please try to take notes specifically regarding the changes that are being proposed.  Ex. If you are running a Space Marines vs. Necrons and you are shooting at a T-Hawk, roll an 'alternate universe' die-roll to show what you would have done in terms of damage.

Your batrep need not be fully detailed although if you want to do a full one that would be great too.

As for what needs to be tested, pick whatever motivates you.  Even if you want to test the Blast Marker accumulation off board then go right ahead.  This doesn't mean that all of these changes will take place but some data is better than no data, which is precisely what we have right now.

When you do a batrep, post a link to it on this thread.  Please discuss only batreps on this thread.  If you want to discuss the merit of the changes use the thread above instead.

Ultimately the Army Champ responsibilities will be hashed out by the NetERC but as the old saying goes 'the show must go on'.  I can't let the Raiders update sit indefinitely but I certainly don't want to put out Raiders 3.0 next year.  So help me out and let's get this one right!

Thanks everyone.

i got in 2 games today, one against tau and another against SM. i used the new mono formations (although i got the pts wrong 200/250 instead of 275 for 3 mono), i used wraiths w/ 4+ CC, extra attack, infiltrator (which is how i think they should be) and pylon w/ 90 cm TK1
it was a little odd only having 10 activations. before you could easily get 12 minimum, so i think that was a good start.
my first game i think i wasn't used to the lower activations/less portals. the first activation of the game, along w/ a retain initiative had my 3 mono formation blown up. then his next turn he used guided missles and blew up another monolith, leaving me w/ only one mono, warbarque, and tomb complex for the remainder of the game. needless to say i lost that one.
but 3 wraiths, pariah, and infantry vs tau in assault was very nice.

my second game was one of those great games that literally went to the very last die roll. after 2 turns of exeptional die rolling, 3 hits from land raider against a fresh warbarque=dead, 2 planes vs a pylon=dead, and a clip on terminators w/ blast markers from a fresh inf formation plus pariah= nothing on terms and 3 dead for me (ok granted they are terminators but i had a plus 3 going into it). once the xmas gift were out of the way though it was a great game.
i realize without a batrep it is a little hard to judge if the changes worked. i suppose if i didn't take 300 pts worth of wraiths i could of squeezed another activation, but it is still lower then before. the new mono formations, for lack of a better term, just feel right. i'll have to get more games to judge the point cost, but seem good.
wraiths seem perfect now (finally)
so i have to say right now we are at least going in the right direction. my opponent certainly liked this version better. i can't wait to play again.

i forgot about the pylon. 90 cm and 200 pts.... i don't know. granted they have teleport, which has to be reflected in the pt cost, but i don't really like using them that way when i can help it. it also could keep you from going right after the enemy in his deployment zone without that AA protecting you.... well not me but some people maybe. which i guess for all the pylon haters that would be a good arguement to reduce the range.
anyway i'm not so sure about the range, i'll keep playing it though to see how it goes. maybe i'll have to bring a 3rd one (groan) to see if it helps.

got another game in today w/ the abbatoir. the changes are fine, but honestly, whatever changes made will never make it as appealling as the orb. i'm pretty sure this has been said a million times but the orb can be used every turn due to the shooting attack. ok maybe it won't wipe out formations the way an abbatoir can. maybe giving it leader to shed another blast marker, making it that much harder to fail an activation (which happened in the game i just played).
i love the abbatoir and will continue to use it. the DC8 seems right and we can fiddle w/ the extra attacks. but i don't think it will ever be used used as much as the other war engines.
the monolith formations again worked great. i think the point values are right, i guess they should be since they are pretty much the same as before.
the wraiths as upgrades.... awesome.

Besides Hena and MNB, has anyone played with or against Necrons with these changes?

I've played with most of the changes and posted my opinions already, but I'm yet to play with the absolute latest round such as the necron rule change.

Do you care what army they are going up against?

People seem to have issues playtesting against non-official lists. I would be happy to set up a game vs the World Eaters (Matt). It would still playtest the rules that you want to playtest. I just do not want to waste my time if all I am going to get "I wish you would test it with an official list.." type of view.

Mosc, you ok with unofficial lists going up against the changes to help you out?

I think World Eaters would be fine.  Using something like Lugganath Eldar (which has never even been playtested) would be not okay.  :)

In other words, go for it.  ANy input would help.  Thanks!
