I finally finished painting my Necron army and decided to have a game with a friend. IG mech force v Necrons defending a tomb complex. Seemed very strait forward, take a bunch of phalanx – check, upgrade them with some immortals – check, take a few destroyer units for speed – check, defend the tomb complex – check. Most of you by now should have noticed the glaring omission in my force list. No Monoliths equals only a single portal on the Tomb Complex to get phased out troops back into the fight. It wasn’t a good day for the Necrons as units kept getting removed from the table and not enough were making back to halt the IG steamroller. So… I tried my hand at some clay and soon realized my sculpting ability peaked at about age 6 and stayed there. Is there a company that sells something close or can you recommend some Monolith proxies? In addition I’m going to make some obelisks, but mine are going to look like the ones from the original Dawn of War video game. A traditional Egyptian style obelisk like the Washington memorial. I’ve seen a Hurts Arts plaster mold for one but it looks a bit big for epic scale. Any ideas would be very helpful.

I wonder if someone could shoot me one of those PMs as well? I'm interested in starting up a Necron force and the "use BFG models" solution seems sub-optimal. :P

Thanks in advance.

my understanding is that we might need a new obelisk proxy source.

Others can confirm/deny that.

Sorry for the bump but any chance someone could send me a similar PM with the details as I am very keen to put a Necron force together.

Cheers

Chris

Knowledge must be earned, it must be consistent with observable reality.

But how would you earn this knowledge? Would you observe alone, and gain empirical wisdom, or is it best to isolate variables, and be enlightened through reductionism?
