There has probably been discussion about this but being new to necrons I wonder is their cost correct given their unit data compared with that of Land Raiders?

I see their armour is somewhat lower and their fighting stats slightly lower but they also skim, teleport and are fearless and you get 6 in a formation.

How do they stack up against a LR? Is there something in play that I am missing? Are they really 50 points each given LRs are 100? Are LRs _that_ much better?

cheers

edit - man I wish I could edit the topic title ?

Bear in mind that Land Raiders are generally considered overpriced...

I do agree that they may be a little cheap when fielded in their own formation, but not when used as monolith bodyguards.

I also fail to see why they are now a core formation.

I personally consider a 25% difference in armor a significant difference.  There is also the ATSKNF.

As for the core formation change, I think it was done to allow for more support formations but I can't really speak for Corey.  So far though this list of the Necron is the best to date and seems pretty well balanced.  I played them a couple weeks ago and they felt fine. Z is right that they lose some usage when fielded as Monolith bodyguards but that is a pretty darned important job given the new pricing of the Monolith.

Thanks guys.

So the list is still being adjusted? How will this effect the list in the Raiders Supplement? Will it mean that it(the supplement) could very well be out of date in a short time?

I believe the Necron list (and the others in raiders) are intended to be left alone for a year to settle and find the issues.

Land raiders are a rip off at 100.  I'd have said 75 would be a good place to start with their points, but no higher than 80.

But that's just my personal opinion :)

The idea behind having the Obelisk Formation is so that you can build a "Dragon" list for the Necrons.

C'tan the Dragon was a very mechanical oriented god from all I've seen, so having more vehicles seemed to be a flavorful way of giving the option without having to create an entirely new list.

The Necron list is most definitely NOT being adjusted.

Not until the second print run of Raiders anyway, after the first run sells 1000 copies! :D
