No. Pylons actually have no melee attack value at all. They can't attack any models which reach base-to-base combat with them. They're immobile and have no way to fight in close combat. They do get Flux Arc shots against those in Fire Fight range, so you want to be a little careful about that. But it's not hard to break, and potentially destroy, the pylon without taking much (if any) damage using teleporting troops.

Though being only 2DC, you can get a maximum of four units against it.

I've done it with a large Genestealer swarm: Declare an engage, 4 Genestealers base the Pylon, and the other four stay 16cm away with the scouts rule.  You're already at +1 for out-numbering, even if you do no damage!  If there's a Blast marker, you're at +3, before dice are rolled!  And the Pylon can do nothing at all against you.

Teleporting assault troops are also wonderful for breaking those Pylons. Or any really fast-moving assault troops for that matter. Remember Pylons have NO close combat attacks whatsoever.

Pylon is a war engine, it doesn't need any close assault attack.

If all stands from attacking formation are in CC yes it does.

Ok, lets add some more on this. After being noted that we played the support fire wrong (eg only those can be fired at that are within 15cm of the attacking/defending formations unit) I have to reconsider quite a many things. As it effectively downgrades the Monoliths.

I can't access the SG forum, could you sum up the topic of your link?

only those can be fired at that are within 15cm of the attacking/defending formations unit

This is how I play the Monoliths, is this the good one?
