If you are worried about how complex the Monoliths & Obelisks will be, check out the work of Fran?ois Bruntz.

He put pics up on the DRM forum.  They look very good, but appear to be made mostly of GW 25mm & 20mm bases with some L shaped styrene.  Should be fairly simple construction.

You're right. I used GW bases to make the main body and made cardboard templates for the corners. These are my 3rd generation Monoliths.

During the event at Lyon I met many players who wanted to play Necrons and we shared ideas about Monoliths so I think there will be at least a 4th generation...  :laugh:

Ehm, Vanvlak has told me something a bit scary: DRM stuff comes without basing! Do you know if any company sells that kind of stuff(aside from GW, i mean)?

If you want to go for an ultra simple approach, check out this article from Fanatic Online.

The "Pyramids" refered to in the article are from Looney Labs. ?A set contains 3 sizes of pyramid, 5 of each size.

Edit:
Of course you could always skip the traditional route and try my idea of making all Necron vehicles with different sizes of Borg like cubes. :laugh: ?:laugh: ?:laugh:

Looks Interesting ... :) ?Bases should not be a problem ... I managed to get G/W Bases, in trade (I won't pay G/W's goofy prices). ?But plastic sheet sold in hobby shops etc., should work fine. And as D/S, mentioned, E/W may sell bases and IIRC; DRM is thinking about that too ... ?So don't dismiss DRM Andys. ?They are the best option either coupled with G/W C/Andis or together. I plan on using both/all ! :D ?And I've got a M/Machine Borg Cube - Makes a great Necron Monolith or something !

The miniatures (and the paints!) arrived last week. I have now painted half the "warriors" (63 of them), and the Abattoir (or the "necron spider"). Hope i get them painted (and pictured here)before christmas!

I have painted 100% of the warriors now, but i have only 12 units based. Vanvlak is "providing the holes" of the bases. He uses a laser to cut them in cardboard (and no, i'm not joking). Unfortunately y hace not been able to paint de bases yet (maybe i should paint them plainly black?). The photos, again, are responsability of Vanvlak, as i don't have a camera here, so if you want photos, ask him!

Aside from this, i wanted to ask you a LOT of questions:

-How would you paint Vanguards so that they look like inmortals?
-Why the Necron Lord has not got the leader hability??? (it helped other units regeneration in 40k!)
-In a phalanx, can you add the Lord to Inmortals instead to warriors? the list doens't states anything, but then you could also argue that you could put him in a pariah unit, thus giving it the lord's Necron hability, thus having a unit of Pariahs able to regenerate (which is something they can't do in 40k). Which reminds me...
-Why has the Lord the hability Necron listed??? i think it's a nonsense!

I would paint them the same as your regular Necron Warriors, but with a more "rusty" look, to give them that "older than old" feel.

And that's exactly what it does in Epic too! :alien:

Leader works differently for Necrons than for other armies: when a Necron formation regroups it can either remove BMs normally or "repair" destroyed Necron units up to the number of BM it could remove, or a mix of the two. Since Leaders help remove more BMs, they also help repair more units.

I don't think you can do that for the Phalanx, since you're purchasing "6 Warriors + 1 Lord."

BUT you're right, in Venator and Eques formations it seems you can put the Lord in any type of unit, Pariahs included...

You're right here too, especially in light of the above problem.

Removing Necron from the Lord and/or making clear that the Lord can not join Pariahs would make sense and solve that problem, I think.

Uhm, thanks for the input, but i have to complaint with two things:

-The Necron Lord does NOT have the Leader hability in the current version of the army list!!!! (that's why i asked, i do know the special rule!!)

-I thing that the Necron Lords should be able to be included in Inmortal units, as that's something they could do in 40k (and also, you don't have any problem with the Necron hability as with pariahs)

One more question: do you paint your lords differently? i mean, different metalic colours, diferent cloak colours... (i have to paint 3 more lords so far... ah, and i only have 3 more stands of warriors to GLUE to their stands!!!)
