So..... I was looking at NetFlix and seems there is more "unreleased" as DVDs then released. ???

The one website I looked at had a list of the seasons and programs. The Netflix list was way shorter then the website's.

Question: Does it matter what Dr. I get? Are some better then others?

dafrca

That has been a matter of debate for longer than some people have been alive.

Everyone has their favorite (I've always been partial to the 4th Dr.), so there's no objective way of saying who's "Better".

Get the 2005  series only.

The ones before that are about 20 years old and too camp for most tastes. :blues:

It's true that the earlier incarnations are dated but still very enjoyable and they are required to appreciate a lot of the 'in jokes' in the new series.

I'd agree with Evil And Chaos and go for the 2005 series - although the 4th Doc IS good for some fun too :D

Yup, the Christopher Ecclestone ones are pretty decent, and are the general 'latest' ones out. First few of the new series are on DVD too, but it's always best to wait for the boxed set.

IIRC 'Genesis of the Daleks' is widely regarded as 'pretty good', and it has the Fourth Doctor[Tom Baker] who is usually viewed as the best[though I'm a fan of the two latest ones myself!]. It's just been released on DVD here in the UK.

Old ones are good, but they're a bit hit and miss in palces[again IIRC]. New ones are a safe bet generally.

Currently, IMO, Daleks are still better than Cybermen.

Yeah, I think Tom Baker is the 'classic' Doctor.

I haven't seen enough of the new ones.  Always on when I'm getting ready to go down the pub

I rather liked the Key of Time series. If only for getting to see the totally horrible Douglas Adams episode, The Pirate Planet. Which is fantastic, and about as campy as one would expect from something written by Douglas Adams for Dr Who

Seriously though. That series of adventures is rather neat. I'm kinda hoping they'll do something similar with the new Doctor series. The over-arcing plot lines were always the most interesting to me.

There is a very specific way in which you can determine the 'best' Doctor - it's whichever one you're most familiar with. In many cases, this will be the one that was around when the person in question was a child, watching Doctor Who from behind the sofa - thus, most people between the ages of 35 and 40 tend to prefer Jon Pertwee (the third Doctor, 1970-1974) or Tom Baker (the fourth Doctor, 1974-1981), in my experience.

I'm just about old enough to remember Sylvester McCoy (the seventh Doctor, 1987-1989) from when I was little, and I remember eagerly awaiting the eighth Doctor's (Paul McGann) only appearance, in the made-for-TV-movie released in 1996 - though he, and four of his predecessors, have since gone on to reprise the role in several audio plays.

To be quite honest, though, my favourite is most definately the tenth and current Doctor, played by David Tennant.

'e's right, y'know - those two are my favourites, and I'm 38. But they were  only two series ever shown locally, one for each of these doctors.
Then again, I like the 9th VERY much indeed, and have the series on DVD; and I've noth met the 10th yet.
