Maybe there's an opportunity here for some friendly neighbourhood 6mm mini maker :P

Barring the giant scarabs on the sides, which are a bit "meh" for me, I think the Tesseract Vault looks pimptacular (in a good way).

It perhaps owes a bit to the old Epic Aeonic Orb, (trapped shard of a c'tan rather than the trapped core of a star) but honestly I love the concept and the design.

not a fan I'm afraid, sculpted flames/smoke/energy beams always make me cringe

plus you would think the eavy metal team would have at least tred doing object sourced lighting on it, right now it looks a bit like a green spaghetti man inside a metal pyramid.....

Seems a lot less intimidating when you put it like that!

You could imagine that the star god's energies are being trapped and drawn off to feed the guns on it, so the light/energy isn't iluminating the arcane machinery doing so.

Good call with the Aeonic Orb, an epic one of these would make an excellent proxy if one to make one.

Dr Manhattan meets Bane by way of the spaghetti man :D

Personally i like it a lot. Concept, sculpt, dormant scarrab/spyders - very cool and perfect at epic scale. I know what you mean about the spaghetti (nothing has been able to match the screaming bell for "wafty things" so far) but i think it works. I guess the C'tan will be cast in the translucent green lego plastic ?

The lord of battles on the other hand :o Oh dear god ! Bad in epic : worse now. With the chaos minis in the dark vengeance set I though they had really got a better look for chaos - warped rather than just spiky. This just looks like an 80s hair-metal album cover. Surely this won't sell ? Though i guess that just means the rules will be better !

You obviously underestimate the stupidity that seems to go hand-in-hand with most things Apocalypse related.

:D

Last week I witnessed, not played, my first game of (normal) 40k in a few years. Eldar vs necron, 2000 pnts on a 4x6. There was barely enough space to set up the figures !! WoE do ork players do?? Of course that all changed after the first turn when buckets of minis poured off the table and back into their cases till there was just 3 uber characters duking it out with a mechanical spider... I can't even imagine a game of apocalypse !

Yeah its devolved into gaming in rails sadly. Funny was before SG got crapped on I had played around with the idea of attempting to Rogue Trader-izing the modern units to try and come up with something actually playable at the tactics level. Now, can't be bothered.

Have you tried "In the emperors name" or inquisimunda ? Also inquisitior in 28mm has quite a following online.

Together with the picture a bit strange.
Build "open" is the Tesseract Vault and build "closed" is the ObelisK?
