I think we can all agree that some form of specific list is required for lords, no matter what units are on the list.

The simplest and least confusing way is with a note on the lord's profile.

I'm thinking of setting them up the same way Eldar Rangers are actually.  More expensive obviously.

That's what, 4-8 bases or something?

My only concern is that a wraith formation will actually be pretty darn nasty. Movement 30cm is a lot for a formation with 2x3+CC, and even a small number of them will be able to do some serious damage.

They need to go up to 50 points at a minimum I think.

Recommendation from ePilgrim: he is on his way to the hobby store and requested I post this for him.

He suggested that instead of First Strike (which can be pretty nasty) that they get their move reduced to something like 20cm and get infiltrator instead.  This would be more like them phasing through stuff.

It sounded good to me.

I played my first game against Necrons today.  The logic behind the special rules for movement didn't quite make sense to me.  I don't understand why they need a special rule to represent the fact that they move slow when there is a stat for that where it could quite adequately be represented.  I see no reason at all why they can't march, its not like they are going to get puffed out.  Reduce the infantry's movement to 10cm, their max move is still the same, doesn't need a special rule.  I imagine marine movement to represent running across the battle field from cover to cover whereas Necrons just plod forward relying on their armor and ability to regenerate to get them where they want.

I think this could help in the balancing process rather than increasing costings and making them end up really expensive where you have a tiny army.

As I mentioned I have only been in one game against them so I can't really comment on much else in the list.  I just wanted to toss up the idea of avoiding special rules to represent their movement.

They don't march because they've got all the time in the universe to get the job done... *laugh*  

And, why march, when you can saunter out a Portal?

Actually, you seem to be missing that Destroyers, Obelisks, some of their War Engines all move faster than 15cm; allowing them to March, in combination with all the teleporting and Portal use means that they could easily do "March grabs" of objectives... they're tough enough to fight against!

Support formations

2-6 Wraiths +50 points each.

Wraiths removed as upgrades from all other formations.

I'm not going to alter to the stats on them until they get a little play.  As I think about it though, If I put in first strike, I'm going to remove the extra attack. :)

Losing the extra attack for first strike could be a good idea, as it depowers them slightly, while creating a new role for them.

Yup, 100 point formations are a poor idea. Minimum size 4 bases.
