4hrs sleep, less than ten games this year, and a comedy army list - I was led to believe this would be a winning combo. The Internet lied to me!

You should follow my regimen of getting really drunk at a beer festival and not getting back till early morning. I believe this properly focuses the Warrior Spirit.

On the subject of Necrons, I am very much a fan of the obelisk formation as they're the fastest unit in what is actually a very slow list. Yes you can teleport Monolith formations in turn three just about anywhere to grab objectives etc, but that probably means they were broken last turn, had a 1 in 3 chance of not rallying at all and are almost certainly coming in with at least one blast marker making them easy to break.

Would I take a 2 monolith/2 obelisk formation for the same cost as a 3 monolith formation?........Maybe. I have 9 Monoliths in my current list and that's just about the minimum I think I can get away with; any less and you run the risk of not having the right number of portals in the right places turn 3.

And now for bonus content! the (in)famous Rug Castle(tm)!

And yes, this has had a Space marine strike cruiser barrage land on it before.....

Cheeky use of war engines to block LoS!

Is he using countercharges to open up LoS if he gets engaged, so the formations behind get support attacks too? Or is the 3 warhounds and 2 shadowswords scary enough to deter any assaults?

The six commissars scared me, otherwise I would have given it a go.

Just to move this on a bit. I'm now looking at what other options I have for increasing the number of activations I have in a 3k list and dropping the number of Monoliths is one of these options.

[quote="Rug"]At least one of the Monolith formations could go without the upgrade. I think so long as the BTS is paired up with an upgraded Monolith formation it doesn't need to be quite as 'Uber'! I never came close to taking it! Does anyone?quote]
Ryan did with two artillery batteries shooting at it in one turn, very nearly wiped them out. They broke and he would have had BTS if we hadn't gone into another turn with them rallying and marshalling back onto the table returning most of their number.

Phase out and Disrupt are a Necron players nightmare.
