Cheers guys :)

From memory, these guys were basecoated white and then washed with Woodland Scenics Green Undercoat.
The metal areas were painted using GW Boltgun.
Next was a wash using GW Nuln Black.
The fleshy areas were washed with GW Baal Red and then washed again using GW Agrax Earthshade.
Yes, this army was all about washes!

Anyway, onto the next project!
I've finally got round to painting my (long planned) Chaos themed Guard army.
It's based on the human soldiers that fought for the Iron Warriors in Storm of Iron. They were described as wearing red uniforms with chaos icons (I used FW brass etch for the icons) on their vehicles. As usual, I'm going for a more weathered look.

Anyway, here's the first few photos of some of the many super-heavy tanks.

Cheers for now,
Steve.

Stunning. The three things that really make those Super Heavies stand out for me are:

1. The effective use of the restricted palette and the washes. Together it creates a highly effective and natural weathered effect. Love that.
2. The use of the brass etched icons on the front armour, very nice.
3. Not overdoing the chaos ornaments; having just the one tank adorned makes it clear they are under the command of Chaos, but still very much keep the look of 'turned' former loyalists. In this instance less is definitely more in my opinion. Nicely done.

Very nice. +1 all above. The mix of vehicles alone break the unit up just enough as to suggest its tainted nature. Subtle and nice. Interesting lighting effect. Any close shots on that one? *I really have to stop mini-surfin on the phone...

Although it is hard to actually fathom, you seem to improve your painting with every army.

Cheers guys 8) .

I've had to put the Chaos Guard on hold for a bit as other things have taken up my time (I haven't had a chance to play epic since I played a few games with the fellas in Connecticut in mid July).
I have managed to put together a Dark Eldar army. It's unpainted and I'm going to be selling it to someone local in Perth (they can paint it for themselves). I wanted to keep this army a lot but I want to see it in the local scene more, so here's hoping it sells quickly.

I do have some other things to add to this thread (my brothers Eldar that I painted last year and a few more bits and pieces for the Chaos Guard to name 2). I'll get around to these things soon (I hope).

Cheers,
Steve.
