Hi! I am new here(what a start!) and kinda new to the current version of Epic. I have played during AT and SM era, but skipped epic 40000 cause I didn't like those blast markers and new(old) rules. I even sold some of my toys back then. What a fool I was. Anyway, recently I got my hands on a huge pile of (60k atleast, prolly a lot more) points of epic orcs, eldars, chaos and marines and I almost attended local tournament with my SM era marines but faded at last minute to please my wife. I did go to watch games for a half day and that was another mistake I made. It was horrible to watch games and not to play, it burns the little gamer inside me. (Hena referred(atleast on Finnish forum) to me as a driver from another town, even thou I was local and toke some of his general pictures from his last tournament. It's ok, I lived in that dreaded town when I was 2-5 years old.) I am babbling, lets move on. I started painting eldars for epic as there were decent amount of those(32 sprues) and I hadn't played eldar since 1993. I allways liked those figs. Figs lack static grass or moss from bases, I am still between small patches of pale and green grass. Prolly pale yellowish grass as it fits better to brown earth. My plan is to get 10k points of eldars painted for next summer. I have been a bit busy and it is very likely that I won't get any new models painted in next 2 week but I have spent my rare spare time cleaning and preparing extra troops. Still not getting to figs, I'll shut up. Here are some of my WIP aspects. Howling Banshees Dire Avengers, front Dire Avengers, side Swooping Hawks Striking Scorpions, front Striking Scorpions, side Dark Reapers I am not completely pleased with the looks of striking scorpions nor dark reaper. I think that the yellow helmet is too 'striking' and dark reapers need something. Suggestions accepted. -Eikka |

Nice looking stuff ![]() For the Dark Reapers how about a small bone coloured patch for the face? The scorpions might look good with a smal red dot on the faces too. |

Yup, light colored face is just the ticket. If you're really keen you could alternate Red and Bone on their loin cloth/armour. |

Great! I think reapers are very cool now, but for the scorpions I suggest bit color change to helmet (some shading and lighter colours). But they look awesome! ![]() |

A spot of watered-down chestnut wash all over the Scorpions might help; followed by a light, white or sand drybrush possibly. Otherwise - grand stuff. ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Thanks for comments. Scorpions received same impressions as I did. I'll shade those helmets a bit darker to reduce contrast with green. I may even get those tiny mandiblasters visible. I'll also test tiny bone spot on Reapers face and consider painting those loincloths. Three stripes within square millimeter without permission to spill paint. ![]() I got free from extra activities outside family life this weekend. Hope I have time to test those changes and get fire dragons under brush too. |

It's been quiet here but not out there. I have been cleaning falcons, wraithlords and vypers. These still need to be based and basecoated white before painting can continue. In addition to cleaning eldar I have been testing casting walls(similar to PipBoy's) and luring my brother back into game. Casting hasnt been that successful, thou it will get better all the time. Then luring my brother back has been a blast. We played few training missions from rulebook and one larger game. He fell on SM and has allready cleaned and prepared company of marines. More is on its way. |
