I was wondering what kind of strippers are available for glues...especially plastics glues and the kind of SUPER STRONG metal glues... |

Plastic glues or cement as it is also called is pretty much impossible to strip as it melts the surface of the bond area and sort of "welds" it together. However you might be lucky if only very sparse ammount of glue has been used. In that case you can usually break the pieces apart if you are very carefull. As for Superglue: Not really sure what can be done. Age tends to make superglue more brittle ut again the bonding area and the ammount of glue used plays a large part. |

Try debonder for the superglue...they type you would use if glued your fingers together. It does depend on penetration so you have to be quite liberal. Also works well for cleaning off the superglue residue in the cases where it is brittle enough to pop apart. One thing to note though is that the debonder turns the glue into a jellylike substance which will go hard again if you let it. |

So, debonder is safe for plastics? |

It sounds strange, but when I want to seperate plastic glued with plastic glue, I just add a bit more to the join and pull them apart. The liquid glue seeps in and melts the joint a little, so the two bits can often be seperated. |

I think debonder is safe for plastics, I the pot I have was recommended for plastic, although I've never had to use it. That wasn't much help was it ![]() ''Debonder'', ?the German 007? ![]() ![]() ![]() Just remembered that I think it was supposed to be for plasticard, so i'm not sure how it would work on other plastics. |

Simple Green also attacks cyanoacrylate glue (a.k.a. superglue). |

Also acetone usually works, when wanting to get paints off, just let figs in acetone overnight and parts are easy to separarate and well as getting paint off with toothbrush... |
