Who wants, to live, forever.....?  :O

This means I must work on my armies, as modelleres etc.

I'm an easily distracted painter, and one thing which works is a fast paint scheme. one I've tried is:
black undercoat
brick red drybrush
leather drybrush
sand drybrush
very small yellow details (e.g. eyes).

I'd like some other quick-paint schemes suitabe for getting whole armies done in hours, instead of years. Any suggestions? Lighter-coloured ones would be of great help!

Sounds good - would any shade of ink work well, or do you use any particular one? FOr example, as regards washes, chestnut always seems to have worked better than anything else.
Thanks.  :D

Would dipping be appropriate?

Yep - in fact, my loads of thined chestnut wash are practically the same - I just use a wide brush instead of dipping.
Thanks Otter.  :D

For my Ultramarines, I basecoated Ultramarine Blue (oh how I miss the spray cans with different colors), blue wash, drybrush Ultramrine blue, then pick out details. I've done at least 50 stands that way and it was pretty quick. I think it actually took me longer to paint the bases Goblin Green than the Marines themselves.

my marines are ultramarines, i just use the neat blue ink from GW, red works well too.... and yes... basing takes 5 times longer!

Ah right. Must try the blue ink method. And I agree on the basing - I try to get out of it by applying sand or flock, but applying the PVA glue takes some time too. Thanks guys.

one thing i was toying with for the next five companies iv got to do is to attach hem to a stick whist they are painted and attach them to bases painted and flocked separately.....

may work.... or may just be a pain in the a$$

Pick your colour, buy tin of black spray undercoat and tin of colour you want.  Undercoat black carefully and fully.  Let dry.  Then spray with colour of choice from 30-40cms away.  Let dry.  Paint guns gunmetal grey, paint edges of base green.  Let dry.  Flock.  Done.

Hey, I just had a great idea for basing speed! Paint miniatures on stick (I do this anyway). Paint base in green/brown/black/whatever. Apply watered-down PVA glue to base. While still wet, attach infantry, dip in texture material and allow to dry.

The big time savers are that you can paint the base without trying to poke around infantry limbs and the infantry and flock are using a single application of glue to attach them.

If I'm doing armies and not special displays, I don't bother doing any shading.

Space marines - Undercoat Blue. Bolters in black. Silver to shine them. Do some details on shoulder pad. Done

Base wise, I just paint it green. It's only recently I started bothering with basing.

has anyone ever tryed the "stick" method? i know some people paint figures on the sprue, would this be simial in effect, but would you run the risk of breaking figs when you tryed to base them?
