Post subject:  Productive Assembly Day...

Well I decided to take some time off today to get some cleaning up and gluing done... despite having lots of real work to do ?:D . ?Assembly and gluing is my least favourite part of the hobby, for two reasons:
1. It takes me ages because I'm meticulous about removing mould lines and getting things lined up perfectly...
2. I'm allergic to the super-glue. The local shop didn't have the no-allergy version in stock and I'm impatient so I just bought the regular 'make me crook as a dog' cheapass version...

My original intention was to get just a WFB Battle Standard Bearer and 10 Cavalry riders stuck to their horses and given shields - all that's needed to finish off my WFB army. But there were some epic bits that were also begging for attention...

So end of day sees the following cleaned up and assembled from scratch:

Epic:
4 Drop Pods (the EA version is VERY nice - even if it does come in six pieces!!)
1 Strike Cruiser (my first BFG model... very nice minis too - but lots of assembly).
4 Flak Wagonz
2 Revenant Titans
4 Leman Russ, incl 2 Vanquisher Conversions.
1 Bombard
1 Basilisk
1 Shadowsword
2 Reavers except their weapons.
4 Beetle Warlords bits sorted out (at least I'm not allergic to the plastic glue).

WFB:
1 Battle Standard Bearer,
.... no cavalry ?

So got lots of epic bits and pieces done that are needed to fill gaps in armies! Happy about that... but now feeling like crap from the super glue fumes (despite having heaps of ventilation and removing models from the room as soon as they were glued!). ?Time to hit the sack and try to sleep off the chemical attack (even though I know I will still feel bad tomorrow). The things I do for epic!

Hi MarkCoNZ,

Sounds like fun... got pics?

*** How did you make your Conqueror conversions? ***

If it interests you, I recently relented and started a 28mm WHFB army of undead pirates... my buddies are starting a Lustria campaign and I sort of got roped into playing the undead.

I'd forgotten how much fun the GW multi-part kits are to put together. Pirate zombies, anyone?

I also found a bunch of the Reaper zombie pirates in a used bin for a US Dollar or two a piece so I bought up the lot. Beautiful figures! Big though... most seem to measure at least 35mm!

Shalom,
Maksim-Smelchak.

Wow !  Lots done in a Chem enviro !  Have you tried an industial painter's mask ?  I got one at a hardware store (Sears).  And wear it when sanding/filing F/W resin ... it's toxi too !

Cheers guys! :)

No pics yet unfortunately, my camera is busted and have yet to get another one.

Maksim, for the Vanquishers I tried many techniques including brass pipe, but eventually settled for just sticking a normal Leman Russ barrel to the end of a demolisher barrel (drilled and pinned for strength) and then doing a bit of filing work.

Zombie Pirates featured at the last WFB tourni I went to - they almost lost every game due to the apalling 'braindead' rule (always strike last no matter what), but they were a crowd favourite and very nicely themed!

I'm feeling much better today...  and looking at my new pile of assembled minis I can only admit it was all well worth it  :D

Thanks for the tip L4 - I might have to try it. Has to be better than the current situation! I never used to have problems with super-glue, but have just got sensitized  to it over the years. How much is one of those painter masks worth in US$?
