Hi folks,

not sure if this is the correct forum cathegory, but I need advise for a good Deathstrike Missile Launcher Proxy.

I already have 2 of them in my regular IG army. My newest project is building up a Siegemaster army and I want another mini in it than the regular one, perhaps a bit more bulky?

I have some of those old Deathstrike launchers with the 3 different missile types, but I don't like them and they are too small imo.

An advise for a good proxy mini is highly appreciated, perhaps a SCUD-missile launcher or something???

Thanks in advance!

Well, GHQ offers a couple of things that might work.

I have always thought that the Whisper Launcher from the 10mm CAV line of miniatures would work.

Hi KL,

I'd recommend the two missile launchers from the CAV series although...

The plastic vehicles from Fortress Figures also include a cool missile launcher:

And, of course, check out the new rocket launcher i featured at my blog here:

Judging by my GHQ WW2 stuff they are going to be too small, the Cav looks good, anybody got one to show a size comparison?

I dont have a Whisper, but CAV is 10mm and the bases are 1.5 inches across.

You can always just take a couple of Rhinos and a couple of missiles from 1/72 fighter jet model kits and mate them up.  Plastruct makes some nice girder pieces to use for the launch rail.

Thanks for your ideas mates, these are highly appreciated!

Will have a closer look at the models. The idea with the 1/72 fighter model rocket is not bad, too.
Perhaps scratch build a carrier vehicle from an old Basilisk chassis with a ramp on top and then the model rocket could look great.

The GHQ SCUD looks great, too. But as said seems to be a tad to small.

If I have something finished I'll let you know and post pics ...

I actually prefer the older "buzzbomb" style of Deathstrike.  I've been kicking around using a Rhino and the antitank missiles from a 1/72 scale Mi-24 HIND, since those are about as long as a Rhino and have the look of a 1st Ed. Deathstrike.

*Sigh* -- so many ideas, so little time...

For a larger scale missile use the 1/72 aim54 (?) the one that the tomcat's use. Phoenix I think they are.

Got a couple a while back and trying to use them but any carrier I come up with looks to dis proportioned.  Might use them as ground based missiles for scenario or something

Even in 1/72 a Phoenix missile is huge, 4-5mm in diameter, and the fins are about that much larger.

Try the older missiles, like the old AIM4 (carried by F102/106 interceptors).  Hasegawa makes a number of 1/72 scale modern weapons sets that include many different missiles.  Depending on which set you get, changes the missile selection.  Anything from Air-to-Air, Air-to-Surface, Bombs, and accessory systems (jammer/targeting pods, towed decoys, etc).  They also make Soviet weapon selections, with similar mixes.

Bought a box to use as missiles for my 15mm stuff. Nice mix in each box and a good size range as well.

Watch eBay and every once in a while they come up there and sell for less then retail.

For something different.... :p

Point defence interceptor, or else something like the old WWII Mistel idea, were old-ish aeroplanes were packed with explosive and used as guided missiles.

O_O!!!

This gives my an idea...
Is there any Me 163 Komet models for 6mm scale? Mounting them on top of rhinos would be cool! and they could be used as Hydras!

Here are some pictures to show the alternatives:
The smaller one is the Scud B made by GHQ, the bigger one is the SS 22 ICBM made by CinC
