Post subject:  Introduction and 6mm content

Hi all. I've been lurking for a while and thought it was about time I climbed out of the trench. ;D

By way of introduction, I decided to dig out all my old Epic stuff during COVID (marines, nids and Eldar) and, to cut a long story short, I'm now working on seven Epic armies, a load of Titanicus and my old Rogue Trader 40K collection.

The Epic material is a mix of my old minis, stuff I've added from eBay and elsewhere, quite a lot of Vanguard stuff and some 3D prints. I've really enjoyed getting back into the painting (which was always the main draw for me) but hopefully in the not too distant future I'll be in a position to play some games again!

I'll add in a couple of photos of my Avatar for my Altansar army. Hope you like him!

All the best

James

Great effect there!

Sounds like a big project James, be careful to manage your own expectations of what you can get through and avoid losing motivation and interest - we all have a line of way too many models to get through, at least you have variety in there but the danger is you never get the satisfaction of 'completing' any of your projects.

Where are you based? Do you plan to try to get any games in?

Thanks!

I have suffered from inadequate focus in the past, much to the delight of Games Workshop, of course!

This time round I'm painting one army at a time, starting with a Blood Angels army based largely on my old collection, albeit with a lot of new additions. That one should be done fairly soon and then I'll move onto the chaos army, which will be much more varied. Moving back and forth between Epic and 40K or AT also helps to keep things progressing without getting old. No idea when it'll all be done, but it keeps me off the streets. :)

The only reason I painted the Avatar at this point was for a competition. The Eldar are going to have to wait a while before I get round to the rest of them.

I'm based in Bedford and I'm looking into options round here for gaming. I met Robin from Hobby Hive at the recent Tabletop Expo so that seems like the best bet at the moment.

LOVE that Avatar! Beautifully painted :)

I too am bad at getting distracted and going from project to project without finishing armies.

There’s regular Epic tournaments around if you feel like travelling to play at some point? There are 10 or so a year and upcoming tournaments at Daventry and Aldershot that may drivable from your area.

Thanks very much!

I'm grateful for the heads-up concerning the events. Several of those might be possible and I should have sufficient Blood Angels available to take part, given another couple of months. :)

That's an incredible looking Avatar!

Looking forward to seeing the Blood Angels, and all 7 Epic armies eventually! :)

Thanks for the kind words! ;D

I'm making progress with the Blood Angels. A few gaps in the formations due to mathematical incompetence have slowed me down a bit, but I'm now largely done with the acrylics on almost all the infantry.

By way of example, here's a photo of some completed assault marines with a Land Raider (printed) and a dreadnought (90s plastic). If you're interested in the process, I recently posted an Instagram reel containing a step-by-step guide with all of the products (search for 236wargaming). Happy to type it up here for anyone who isn't on Insta. :)

Hey there. I've been fairly busy in the Ignatum forges recently and managed to get a couple of Warhounds, a second Reaver and a Warlord finished. Here are some photos for you. Should be back on the Blood Angels fairly soon, following one or two single miniature projects. However, I am now finally in a position to play the game and indeed had my first one a few weeks back at the Bad Moon Cafe, which was great fun! All good things! ;D
