I have seen a lot of really nicely painted bases for AI, with the radars picked out, etc. Do people take the bases apart for this, and remove the underside and wheel counters, when painting the top, and if they do..... How?

Thanks.

Yes people take them apart. I haven't wanted to do it myself yet so I'm not sure precisely how it's done but I'd guess prying apart certain areas.

Some people also use bluetac to cover the holes I hear.

This guy shows you how to disassemble the base in the first 3 minutes or so:

19 bases? LoL Nice approach though if you're going to go through the effort of preshading/prehighlighting, go stronger on the highlight white. To keep it going pink, glaze a golden yellow layer on prior to applying the red (use flow improver to make it translucent)

They should just sell the bases as snap-fit parts TBH.

Really like those thanks for sharing! Just waiting for a thunderbrick to be released. If that happens I'm rebooting my flyers 100% to be all AI19. This might be handy for folks as well=>
