The third of the Malefactor proxies is assembled: Then on to some painting. On the left, one coat of diluted VGA Dark Green, with a second coat on the right. And some more: |

Last week I managed a huge batch of undercoating. Then 'I'll just put a bit of green wash on the Cthulhu Trygon proxies...' turned into 'Oh, OK, they're done.'. |

Then it was time for lots and lots of green... And bone, and pink and... I'm quite pleased with the Mycetic Spore drop pod. And even more pleased with the Malefactor proxies. |

Then, this evening, I drybrushed and weathered the assorted bits of ruins on different bases. And then did some more bases, so that the Zoanthropes would be finished. |

Really stunning Gargoyles - especially as white is so hard to paint. |

Thanks all! The white is a bit of a cheat, that's effectively the pre-shaded undercoat without colour glazes added over the top! P.S. No Nids were cooked during the creation of this army. |

MOAR STUFF! Three forumware Carnifexes, the 'Familiar' Broodlord, and the second Harridan who's been sitting there undercoated for ages. |

And a group shot of the airborne attack wing. Harridans, Gargoyles and Harpies. |

Today I concentrated on finishing touches. First is the Ravenwing Land Speeder that forms the base of one of the first set of Gargoyles, this was just black, with the Heavy Plasma Gun left white, so has had: White on the Bolters, followed by red. Red on the HPG, then Contrast blue for the coils. Some minor highlighting on the crew, plus dark green right shoulder pads. Then it was the turn of the Harridan and some Hierodules. The Barbed Hierodule's gun has been finished off, with green on the mini-carapace, and eye and a claw. The Harridan's wing membranes got some 'brown-lining' around the edges with Agrax Earthshade as they were blending in too much with the white fingers, plus the rocky outcrops on the base got done. Finally, the Scythed Hierodule's plaything/lunch got painted, mostly with Contrast paints apart from the blacks and Bolt Pistol. I'm particularly pleased with how he came out, he's roughly in Blood Angel colours, for variety. |

The Space Marine in daylight. And finally I'm back to the smaller of the Bio-Titans, based on a 40k Carnifex. That't the first coat of green on the rest of the carapace areas. Now to rest my eyes... |

The green is contrast? I have a feeling it's going to be a boon for 'Nid beasties. Like the kitbashing (as always) |

No, the green is Vallejo Model Air Dark Green, slightly watered down and applied with a soft brush to try and exclude brush marks. But yes, in general Contrast is great for Nid monsters and similar stuff. |

Update! First, a size comparison between the old Screamer Killer model and the forumware Carnifexes. Then the second coat of VMA Dark Green on the carapace areas. |
