So I finally got some primer on some knights and thought I'd try out my planned scheme, I went for a dirty, well-used look inspired heavily by
these fellasSo over a black primer I started with the red panels, given that red is the colour of House Raven, there's not an awful lot of coloured panels on most knights which tend to be mostly metallic skeleton with coloured armour plates, so I started with a drybrush of P3 sanguine base on the armour areas, I tried to leave the black at the edge of the plates and blend upwards for a zenithal effect, when I'd got a good browny-purple look, I switched to P3 Skorne red and built up the layers to a nice brick red, again I tried to blend towards the top, for the recessed and smaller panels, I two-brush blended skorne red onto them, the metallic areas were cleaned up with P3 thamar black, then I drybrushed P3 Pig Iron onto the larger metallic areas, and painted it around the thinner trim spots, I then used P3 armour wash on the big areas and carefully painted it into the recesses where the armour and metal panels join to give a slightly dirty look. The yellow on the chest is GW Iyanden darksun shaded with P3 heartfire
here's a couple of WIP shots

the plan is to get the other two done in a more sensible manner (do the same colours on all, etc...) then I've got 3 Errants to get done, and a whole heap of paladins to assemble and prime
