On the French forums you also had a Sisters unit which had yellow industrial vehicles on the bases, two questions: (1) could you share that one here? (2) how did you make those?

Ah, that pic is in Epicomp so figured it was already on this board. I'll add it to this thread too. They are vintage tractors from Shapeways:

Nice kit bash. The main body is from of the catherdral is from the wasteland games 6mm buildings range. The tank tracks look to be an early model German Panzers. The railing is very delicate. I would love to know where that came from.

I think you're right about the tracks, though I can't remember exactly. The railing is z-scale model railway from somewhere like this:

The sites are mostly difficult to navigate, so again, I can't remember exactly which one.

Here's a WIP I'm not sure about. The plan was to create a swampy base using Vallejo Still Water. This product turns out to be a PITA - it's so viscous it climbs up everything (grass tufts, sides of the container), and it shrinks down to almost nothing when it dries. It took 4 layers to get the below result.

So the 3 main problems I have with the result are:

1.) The colour is far stronger than I anticipated. It was supposed to have a green tinge, but still be transparent. I guess this is because the Still Water shrinks, effectively concentrating the added paint significantly.

2.) The water level is above the ground level. Due to having to pour so many layers.

3.) The join between the base and the water is not perfect. This is because the Still Water stuck to the wall of my container, causing me to have to cut them away. I think coating the walls with vaseline will help next time.

Anyway, I need fresh eyes - does the result look good compared with the rest of the formations? Are the defects noticeable? Try to ignore the rubbish phone camera photos!

Actually, looking at results from other products on YouTube etc., it seems 2 part epoxy resin is the only thing that won't shrink, and water effects are notoriously difficult to get right in general. I was considering doing the water on this formation again, but on reflection, bugger that! :P

One more water formation to do - hopefully I can improve my process.

Stunning models as always! :)

The green is a bit more intense than ideal, probably due to the concentrating as it dries. It could represent some water with loads of algae in it but I'd be tempted to add some browny-black wash on it in places on the water to tone down the overall effect and add a bit more variety to the colour.

Thanks for the feedback :) Yeah, I was thinking along the same lines. I'll mix some brown wash in with some gloss varnish and see how that works.

yeah good call.
next time you go about this, you now know to add in far less pigment due to the concentration after drying. Also seems you could get some interesting layering effects too. Much to experiment with.

The wash is just a different kind of bad, I think. Gonna rip out the water and do it again. It'll be good practice before I do a stream on my Seraphim formation.

Brilliant work, I see that you put your already high painting and modelling to another level.
