I've been collecting Death Guard since Space Marine days. Unfortunately most of my collection is in storage interstate, but I am acquiring and painting some models, so thought I would share what I've been up to.

The first unit are legion medusas, which I will use as contagion engines in 40k games.
Image
I've painted them in a battle-worn off white so they suit both eras. I did the same with my 28mm version of this army.
Image
I also painted a fair bit of rust on them, to represent the fact that Death Guard fight in the dirty, toxic places more than other marines.
Image
I kept the guns metallic though. Those bits are maintained and looked after at least!
Image
The red accent on the guns is the same as my 28mm army too. It is a throwback to the 90's when I started collecting the earlier models I own.
Image
These models also came with crewmen. I might add them in later.
I will also add some unit markings in later. I have some home made pre-heresy transfers in storage, so I am planning to add those eventually.

But that's it for now!

Thanks everyone. I have a few more models painted up now, so thought I would share.

I did up a recipe when I painted my vindicators (to help me remember the steps I follow) so I'll post it here:
1. Paint the model Zandri Dust.
Image

2. Drybrush Screaming Skull.
Image

3. Highlight edges with Screaming Skull.
Image

4. Paint rusty bits Mournfang Brown.
Image

5. Paint non-rusty metal bits black.
Image

6. Lightly drybrush brown and black bits with Leadbelcher.
Image

7. Paint the red bits Khorne Red. Do a tiny edge highlight with Evil Sunz Scarlet.
Image

8. Agrax Earthshade wash.
Image

9. Highlight with white. Try to focus on the upper edges, and leave the lower parts brown. It's at this point that I usually think "actually this doesn't look too bad." Up until here I'm full of doubt and questioning what I've done :D
Image

10. Caliban Green. Do a very subtle warp stone edge highlight.
I'm not 100% happy with my green. I like the dark contrast, but it's not overly "Death Guardy". I need to keep experimenting I think.
Image

11. Chuck it on a base if that's your thing. Job done! :)
Image

I'll post the full formation later on.

Yes, very nice!

Yeah, until I slap a wash on I feel like everything I'm doing is awful. =-P

Cheers for posting up the tutorial ;)

Looks great, wash is amazing stuff and makes so much difference to a paintjob more so in 6mm I think
as it brings out all the little details, I miss the GW washes soooooo much ???

No problem. It will help me in 6 months time when I can't quite remember what I did!

Here are the pictures of the completed vindicator squadron.

Plus I added the crew to the medusas.

I might need to refine that technique for 6mm power armour. I can probably cut out a couple of steps.

That's it for now. :)
