Hi, guys. The first supplement I'll be releasing to support Horizon Wars will be one adding super-heavy elements: primarily super-tanks and "titan"-style super-walkers. Obviously, I'm familiar with GW's OOP range. I'm also aware of Troublemaker Games and Dark Realm. Plus, I'm aware of 10mm mechs that make good super-walkers, like the Reaper CAV range, and of the mechs in Dystopian Wars (which are pretty scale-neutral enough to work fine at 6mm). Can anyone else point me towards potential super-walkers I've not thought of? I'd like to feature a reasonable selection in illustrations for the expansion, and include some hobby advice (something not really covered by the main rules). Regards, Robey |

Microworld Games have a selection of 6mm walkers in their Kreen range. http://www.microworldgames.com/collections/6mm-scifi/Kreen Mechafront are probably my favourite 6mm walkers, they are of a similar size to most of the old Battletech range. They don't seem to be currently listed on his site, but they may be waiting a general release once the KS is complete. http://www.mechafront.com/page/page/8798042.htm As for 10mm ranges, I'm not sure if you're aware of them but these two ranges are well worth a look. Hawk Wargames, Dropzone Commander has a selection of walkers that could suit 6mm. The PHR, Shaltari, and Scourge all have potential. http://www.hawkwargames.com/pages/dropzone-commander Spartan Games' Firestorm Planetfall has a variety of large Mechs that would look at home in 6mm. My favourite would have to be the Terran Alliance Odin Class Leviathan. There are some awesome ranges out there, and I'm always stumbling on new 15mm & 28mm figures that suit 6mm with little to no work. |

Critical Mass Games & Ground Zero Games will be worth a look as well. Although with care most models wihout scale references can be used. |

That's true, Llamahead. For example, I rather like the starter set for Gates of Antares as the robots and drones both look like they'd work well as mechs/aircraft for 6mm sci-fi. However, although I'll touch on that in the hobby section of the supplement, I'd like to give appropriate props to manufacturers already making proper super-mechs if possible. Microworld's stuff is lovely - some of their dinosaurs feature in the rulebook - but the mechs are all about 30-35mm tall, making them fairly standard Presence 1-3 mechs (the sizes assumed as standard in the Horizon Wars core rules). I'm specifically looking for things to run as "Big Lads". In GW terms, Reaver titan size and above. For reference purposes, Knight Titans are about Presence 1 or 2, whilst a Warhound is a comfortable P3. Reaver would probably be 4/5 depending on armaments, whilst the Warlord would be 6/7 and an Imperator 8-10 (a P10 supermech in Horizon Wars would be an interesting thing; I should probably try it...). The CMG Mecha Workshop is a nice resource, but with them being 15mm it's hard to tell just how big they are. Anyone got a link to a suitable illustration? GZG's 15mm mechs are pretty cool. Rather large (definitely at the top end of the scale) but with potential. I'm already talking to Jon at GZG about giving their Dirtside range a feature in the supplements, as I didn't get any of them into the main rulebook. Any other suggestions for - ideally - 3-10mm manufacturers that actually make supermech models, rather than just more standard-sized offerings? But does anyone else make actual 6mm |

Thanks WMNice. I'd totally forgotten about the moribund Exodus Wars stuff. I'll keep my eyes peeled for a re-launch. Do we know anything about the new supplier? |
