Posted in the TMG thread but though most appropriate to set up a lik here to.

Really impressed with TMG's 4th wave Indigogo releases. Having backed to the hilt I thought I ought to paint some up....

The painting guide for these can be found at :-

They look excellent. And the dark blue is just the colour I have been wanting for my marines, rather than more grey! So thanks, Im making the misses drive me out to the obscure railway shop tomorrow for a couple of pots!
Thanks for taking the time to do the guide!

Om nom nom.

I plan to do my more organised armies on long bases and the more mobbish / swarm armies on more square 30 x 20mm bases

Heh! I thought similar, but with line bases and round bases. Then line bases disappeared along with the late, lamented Steel Crown... At the mo I'm thinking of circle bases for everything bar one: two lines of Praetorian Guard on a 40x20mm base.

I see your steel bases are black when you stick the minis on. Are they prepainted?

Mikey mud!?

Fantastic drybrushing there, some of the smoothest I've seen. Unbelievable freehand on 6mm minis, too! ;D

I too lament the loss of SCP, although I suspect we shall see production rights to ranges being bought up and them coming back into production. Although this could be anything from a few months to years down the line.

I get my steel bases from Precision Wargames Supplies http://www.freewebs.com/

They are happy to cut to size in 5mm increments. They are galvanised, primed and blacked. They are about 0.8mm thick. I still thin the base tab of the minis down to get a better low profile feel to them.

'Mikey Mud' is what a friend named my basing concoction. Inspired by base text which is inconsistent and too corse for 6mm. Essentially made up from home baked and coarsly served builders sharp sand, pigment/paint, PVA, and water. Baking it burns off the organic matter so your pot does not grow unwanted bits. You can alter proportions to what works well for you. There was a tutorial on the old Baccus site - looks like another post for the blog!

Painting for 35 years and being fairly short sighted help, f I take my glasses off I have a good focal length for freehand painting.
