Hi,
I've just started my first Epic army - its pretty small at the moment and I'm using Troublemaker Games figures for the units. Just based and painted a few squads of Assault Marines and, as the figures are small, thought I'd make them more prominent by having some 'jumping' on wires. Can't help but think they look a little false on their sticks so was thinking I should stick on some exhaust smoke to hide them which would look cool. So I was wondering if anyone had already done it, or similar, and what a good way of doing it is (green stuff, cotton wool, etc)???

Any tips welcome as I don't want to mess it up and ruin my paint job which took me ages for such small guys!
Here's some pics below (taken on my phone so not great, but you get the idea...):

I know steve54 did some smoke trails on some of his assault marines.... I expect they were GS, twisted round repeatedly for a smokey vapour trail effect

It maybe worth simply remounting the existing models using pipe cleaners.

I would imagine any sort of greestuff or other work around the existing setup would be fiddly nightmare.

I've done smoke for stormboyz - the fine cell foam that used to come in blister packs wrapped around the support wire.

Mine was painted black, but you could use a "cleaner" colour such as grey or white for marines.

Thanks for the tips guys! I'd of never of thought of using pipe cleaners or foam (those look really good by the way). I've got a few spare minis so I might base some up and have a play around so I don't mess up my painted ones. Cheers!

Those marines are really nice, by the way - you've picked a cracking colour scheme. Those troublemaker jump pack novan elites are going to have to be next on the "to buy" list.

Cheers. They turned out really nicely and are supposed to be 'Mantis Warriors' chapter. That's about the extent of my Troublemaker games figures until the stuff I've ordered from the crowd-funder arrives - which should be any day now (can't wait)!

I know I'm late to the game on this, but for my Ork Stormboyz (http://directfire.blogspot.com/p/epic-orks.html) I used a wire and then stuck some Clump Foliage (http://woodlandscenics.woodlandscenics. ... mp-Foliage) to it with Super Glue. I think it worked really well, as you can build it up and get some nice effects.
