Well, I kind of like them shiny... My painting style is definitely old-school. Maybe Ill try a few things in future, among other things Im planning a Sisters of Battle army. But I wouldnt be surprised if Ill go for an old school style even with the newer minis... |

Not "old fashioned" but rather, "experienced" =D |

Nice to see those old predator models getting a freshen up. I only have one of them in my collection for some bizarre reason. Nice work on the night spinner too. Not the easiest freehand design! Looking forward to seeing those eldar. |

Thanks! I really enjoy painting this stuff, even though I only have a few hours here and there to spare. One has to accept that the older minis had less detail and that the quality of the castings was lower, and this is especially noticable on the smallest models (compare a 1988 metal rhino with the latest version and you know what I mean). Preparing (cleaning, removing the mould lines, glueing) took as much time as the actual painting on the predators. And those small minis have 5 parts to assemble! However I really love the style and the designs that the minis had in 88-89, when the first bunch of minis were produced. They are still really iconic. To me the original metal rhino, land raider and predator will always feel like the 'real' versions. |
