I'm looking over the Chaos lists, and I was wondering how to represent the Lord of Battles.

I was thinking that in terms of a more "modern" 40k equivalent, that has been turned into the Lord of Skulls for 40k:

I've seen fan suggestions to turn it into a "Lord of Scorpions":

I was thinking that some kind of super heavy tank from Defeat in Detail might form a good main body for a Lord of Battle, and maybe one of these over the top warrior torsoes:

Would be good to kitbash to the front of it. Not sure about a chaingun / chainfist arm combo though.

I was thinking maybe a Reaver titan could proxy for it, too, but it might be too large? The LoB is meant to be a smallish war engine about the size of a Warhound.

Hi! Good idea!

I don't remember exactly the range, but Warmachine has some mechs that fit fine as Khorne in my opinion. Another alternative could be to use a 40k berserker torso for the part.

Let us know if you make any conversion!

With a DC of 6, it isn't actually that small at all.

really depends on the scale/size you want. Lord of skulls would be much smaller i think?

For a lord of battles size thing i think a forge world 40k cyclops remote demo vehicle with a chaos warrior torso stuck on top would be about the right size.

Ooh that's an interesting suggestion!

I'd need to buy a tonne of 40k scale bits, just skulls, endless skulls to put around the chassis. =D

I'm trying to figure out what the best chaingun / chainsword bits would be at that scale.

at that scale id think this for the chain weapon: http://www.bitsandkits.co.uk/images/457546873693.jpg
trim the end off one and the base off another and glue to two together for extra length if needed

chain gun on LoB is pretty big, so a generic 40k assault cannon should do. If not, maybe a WFP repeating pistol/blackpowder weapon from the empire range?

Skull – buy one, press mould the front off it.

for the dozer blade i wonder if the wheel covers or fairings from the new 40k ork bikers would work size wise

By the time you buy all the pieces, it may be cheaper to just get one on the eBay link I posted ... :eh

Whilst I have a soft spot for the 90s era chaos Khorne war machines, I find them a little goofy and they'd be out of keeping with the more modern looking war machines.

I felt it would be great if I could make something that looked a bit more modern.

This is a very good point, if it has the same DC as a Reaver Titan then I'm sure you can go for a much larger miniature which makes converting using 40k bits a lot easier.

I use a similar argument for my Ork Stompas...they're much larger than a Leman Russ (though they have the same durability) because I like to think Orks are less efficient with armour, engines, and weaponry leading to a much larger machine for a similar combat effectiveness. I'll tell you a secret though, I basically just wanted to use those miniatures in that role because they look awesome ;)

I have 2 business degrees ... sorry ... I got to be me ... And it's rumored I'm 1/4 Ferengi ... I'm also a Retired PI ... Here's an old 40k Scale Chaos 'bot ... others have used for a LoBs ... And only $13.00 !!!!!! http://www.ebay.com/itm/Warhammer-40k-R ... 672wt_1157 :o All you'd have to do is cut off the C/Cbt weapons and mount Ranged weapons like found on the LoBs ...
