Very cool conversions and a funcky colour shceme which suits the army. Like the new terrain bits especially the metal radar is that from brigade too ? |

Yes, the metal radar is from BM as well. |

After another too-long gap... I was at the PAW 2016 show last weekend, where someone was making good use of the DZC scenery for a Pacific Rim game: More to the point, I picked up a bunch of stuff from the Bring and Buy for more conversions, mostly Dystopian Wars Prussians: Oh look, another Plague Tower on the way. And I couldn't resist a pile of 23 micro-tank bases for £4, although I'm not sure what to proxy them as. Maybe 2-3 to a base as a single Predator? I also picked up a bag of stuff from Moredakka, mostly to start a Space Marine force for general club use. This will stay owned by me but will be painted up as Dark Angels by another club member who's a DA fan, and will be available for anyone to borrow. Not that I'm getting bored of facing my own Eldar skimmers or anything... The DiD and Onslaught stuff is great, although the DiD stuff is enough bigger that my original plan of making Devastator squads from DiD heavy weapon troopers plus plastic Marines isn't going to work. These Onslaught Sentry Rigs, however, are for yet more Walkers! Given the large variety of Defiler-equivalents in the NetEA Death Guard list, I've decided to do some extras which are more easily identifiable as Plague Hulks. This is the only assembled photo so far. They're 95% constructed, I just need to go over them with some plastic putty to add gloop and hide some of the joins between the mechanical chassis and the torsos. The one on the left will be holding some kind of gloop gun rather than the Land Speeder Heavy Plasma Gun. There will be four in the end, another basic on the plastic backpack chassis and Onslaught legs and lastly another Battlefortress boiler but this time with Onslaught legs instead of GZG Drone legs. |

Ta all! Yes, the one on the right came out particularly well, the shape of the comms backpack echoes the shape of the 40k models nicely. More work done. Richard at the club was looking at the currently unused rotary cannon from the Sentry Rigs and pointed out that they'd fit well on the Dystopian Wars mobile airfield. Which they do, particularly well: If I ever get around to running that big siege game, I think this will be a king-size Plague Tower with a few more DC and fore-and-aft Desecrator Cannon for some ack-ack. The next two Plague Hulks on the way, the right one needs a block of material underneath to attach the legs to. The big claws are from a Trygon. Some rear and side views of the backpack-based versions: The new one might need the legs bending out again slightly, I bent them before cutting the leg section in half, remembering how awkward that was to do afterwards, but forgetting that I'd already bent them when doing the dry fit... Group shot: Rear views of the steampunk versions, showing how the torsos are plumbed in: |

Ta and ta! IMAGE DUMP! The colours aren't really accurate, but I dug out the airbrush and had a go at doing the green parts of the Plague Tower (tracks removed for painting) and the Titan: I also did some 'sketching' for the Dystopian Wars-based Plague Tower, this will also have crenelations around the decking area to match the existing one: While raiding the bits box I remembered this Dreadnought front panel that I'd set aside as being perfect for a pulpit, this is just a bulking exercise at the moment, it will end up on top of a proper tower. I'm not sure whether to use the old Palanquin banner or to make one that looks more in scale. This will normally get used as a standard Plague Tower, but for custom scenarios I'm thinking along these lines: BEHEMOTH OF NURGLE WE Move 15cm Armour 4+ CC5+ FF4+ 2 x Desecrator Cannon 45cm AP4+/AT6+/AA5+, F Arc 2 x Desecrator Cannon 45cm AP4+/AT6+/AA5+, R Arc Twin Plague Mortars 60cm 6 +2d3BP, Disrupt, FxF Arc Pestilence Battery (15cm), (Small Arms), EA+2, FxL Arc Pestilence Battery (15cm), (Small Arms), EA+2, FxR Arc DC9, Invulnerable Save, Reinforced Armour, Void Shields (2), Inspiring, Fearless, Transport (24). Can transport Infantry, GUOs and Dreadnoughts. Dreadnoughts and Daemon Princes take up two spaces, GUOs take up four spaces. Critical Hit Effect: lose an additional DC, d3 transported units of the owner's choice are destroyed with no save. I also got a load of bases painted up: Then I started on the Blight Drones at last. The difference a good wash can make: And done. I'm not 100% happy with the colour scheme, and if I were doing them again I'd match the colours of the carapaces and ducted fans more closely. But they'll do. On Tuesday I've got a test game with the NetEA DG 0.3.1 list and am trying out some of the new units and formations. I've added 'Death Guard Assault Dreadnoughts' to the army, with Alchemical Launchers and an extra FF dice, so decided I needed something that will look different to any 'normal' Dreads I might take. 'Space Crusade'-style Chaos Dreads with a weapon swap: The 0.3.1 DG army also has formations of six Vindicators and I only have four assembled, so two more were required. Unlike the previous ones with RTB01 Combat Accessories on the front, I managed to get hold of some metal dozer blades for these: Given the small contact points between the Rhino front and the dozer blade, the blades are actually sitting on some plasticard spacers that I glued to the base: |

Note that my websites are all being moved to another host this weekend and are in maintenance mode - so none of the images in the thread will be visible until Monday! |

Hosting is back up, and I had a productive weekend. For the Plague Hulks I eventually went for the tops of some 40mm round bases as they were nice and thin but still rigid enough to add some magnets: Gloop (Plastic Putty) was added, then the usual Plasticine followed by Sandy Paste basing: I came up with a neat idea for undercoating - the models were fixed to some plastic shot glasses by dropping magnets into the bottom, very handy: And I finally put together a gun for the Plaguebearer torso with no sword - some Plasticard sheet and different diameter rod made a splurge gun: |
