well as promised some pics from the 6000 pts fight over the weekend, we are planning a bigger one shortly. Sadly the pics didn't all come out.

for the loyalist 4000pts astares from codex list, figures filled with 1st (another friend) and 7th legion (mine) and 2000pts of adeptus mechanicus skiarii (forum member atcho's)

for the traitor scum, 3000pts death guard and 3000pts red corsair, thier owner is industrially working on painting them, honestly the man is a machine, did 40 stands of infantry one night on a whim.

some pics of the set up process, sadly most of the later ones didn't work

Image

ADMEC demicentury with attached ordinatus and some Fists predators......sadly the admec will be butchered in 2 turns time! though the last member of the unit will hang around until turn 4.

You sure do. Majority of my skitarii army build using the defeat in detail range.

Fantastic fists sir, it must have taken an age to paint on all those shoulder symbols.

honestly not really, i've just got a system with particular brush sizes that gives you the sense at a look that they are fists without draining too much time. That i painted them at all though has led some in my group to call me broken.......what can you do the pauldrons were looking plain :sos

not at all, though i do prefer to think of them as golden yellow :P

i stick my figures to tongue depressors to give me all access space
stong white undercoat
2 coats of "juice" vallejo golden yellow (40 60 paint with water) with seems silly with a weak pigment colour but the thinness of the paint preshades and the tone builds up
hit the high points with brighter yellow (gw suburst yellow old pot in my case)
Glaze of sepia tone ink thinned 60 40 as per juice paint.

add details then send to thier deaths in the emperors service.
the only issue doing it this way is the yellow is unforgiving to touch up if i make a mistake with later steps

good luck

Jim your so prone to exaggeration... You had at least 7 stands remaining... not 6!
Granted this was significantly less then our "fence sitting 1st legion token effort" ally, but more than 6.

Personally the unpainted Red Corsair scum I was running were the victors on the day. If they killed loyalists I was happy and if they died I was happy!

Was a fantastic fight that, really enjoyed it.

Hey all sorry for the absence on my own thread, took a little break from yellow stuff to paint some dystopian wars ships (don't know if anyone else on here is a fan?) just to give the eyes a break!

But back with 2 new detachments for the weekend

1st up Assault marines i love these guys and i'm keen to give them a run, in the play test games before i had an army i just managed to get them killed.......so keen to give the real figures a different experience
