So with a bit over a month left to Australia's biggest Epic tourney I thought I'd chronicle the build process of my army I'm trying to get ready in time.

I've wanted to do a Knight army for a while, and with the new list being approved for use at the tourney by the TO I've dived in and started planning. Problem is, Knights are way to expensive on ebay at the moment, and I know everyone has one or two laying around they'd be willing to sell me it's a bit hard to get them all together in time.

So i decided proxy it was and with the release of wonderful true scale titans popping up (I may have a couple already still waiting to be built) I decided I'd make my Knights a little bigger to fit in with all of them.

So after a quick look around I've decided to use the FW Thallax models as a base for my Knights, with a l,little bit of shaving, some head swaps and arm swaps i think these could work out quite well.

Last week a lovely box came in from over seas depositing all the base models i needed

Now I ordered more than i needed because the quality isn't always that great... in fact i ran into the problem towards the end of way to many left legs and not enough right legs to match up.

Here is a test mock-up of an Errant

Image

I'm not too happy with the power fist, and have some ideas on what to swap it out with, just sourcing what i want currently.

Here was the mock up of the first paladin sans chainblade (Also still deciding how i want to do)

Image

Happy with where i started I contacted a friendly 3D modeler and we designed some heads for them (I'm an old school anime fan, so i couldn't help myself with how these came out)
While awaiting this i also decided i didn't like the added thickness of the GW 40mm bases, so another quick order to the local wargamming store and I came away with a stack of the Rendara thin bases and started working on those with a mix of the GW Crackle paint and some desert sand.

Image

Now i have an Idea and theme for this army and Rough Riders on hourse back didn't really meet with what i wanted so another scrounge around and i remembered the old-school Imperial bikes.
I have a few people helping me get the number of these i wanted all together and with few already in I started The painting up the first test one of these

Last night my head swaps came in and it was time to do the fisrt paint scheme test on these and with that done i thought i could actually start my road to cancon blog. This is just the basic scheme, so detail/weathering still needs to be added, as does one of the arms.

So that's the start of my Zeon Knight forces army, I'll be doing a little bit of this every night and luckily i have the week off leading into Cancon this year to finish up what I need to.

We measured and scaled Zaku, Zaku II and a Sazabi head to fit with the models

So It's been pretty busy around here with Xmas, New Years and all. Plus I'm about to move house to be closer to work but i did manage to do some more work this weekend.

Three Wardens complete!
2 with AA Missiles, 1 with Cannon

Image

I also spend a lot of time getting all my bases ready and painted all the legs of my Knights so i can practice the larger base size with them

Image

Needing a bit of a brake I worked on the flat base colors for my Baron (The Red Comet) and one of my Thunderbolts

Here is a size comparison next to some of my pre-heresy Dark Angels

All my lance, chainswords, and fists have been completed by Dynath on Shapeways, they are in the process of printing and should be shipping any day now. It's going to be close when they arrive so I'm getting all the base colors down now

Great idea Mard, I would have thought those Admech things too big but they seem to be alright as knights.

Good luck with getting it all finished in time.

The DRM quad-leg for a Warden looks great, if you're looking for something similar to do others there's also the Battletech Barghest.

You'll have to let me know what you and your opponents think of the list. I just need to write up my last two battle reports before I put it up for approval.
