They are the original Ork Dreads, the 40k model was modular to make what became either a dreadnaught or a killa kan. http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-sr-_WTdTAtI/T ... _dread.jpg That's the 40k scale version (from Rogue Trader). |

Aw. Them sweet memories of yesteryear. You did them justice, and then some! A friend of mine is setting up an eighties style RT mini campaign and your painting was a nice reminder of happier miniature wargaming days, before humour was annihalated from the 40K fluff. |

Cheers man, having been gaming for over 20 years now, I do miss the days of 2nd ed 40K. Orks in particular were just too much fun. I'm long gone from GW sadly, but I still like to sit down and read the old fluff and oggle old minis. The revival of oldhammer and other such escapades is great fun for me, though I'm not quite the long beard some of those guys are. It did all seem to be a lot more fun back in the day than gaming can be at times these days... though I wonder if its because we were all so bright eyed and bushy tailed ![]() |

those are seriously impressive! I agree with nitpick, the older style ork models were just great, full of character and humour, they looked bodged together without just being a random pile of stupid looking spiky scrap metal |

awww scrapheap challenge.... how I miss it and it's conveniently located items in the scrapheap... "you mean someone just threw away a brand new NOX injection system and it was located on the passenger seat of the car you were salvaging? what are the odds??" |

Great paint job. I sgree the days of innocence are long gone. A strong indicator is how the tournament scene evolved. On the other hand not all is bad - technology brought us the means to have a large base of third parties who widen the range of choices. Also painting changed a lot in the last 20 years and not to the worse |
